2 Corinthians 2:12-13
Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord, I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed for Macedonia.
NKJV
When we minister to others, we often find ourselves put to the test. Indeed, Paul experienced this as he traveled from place to place, sharing the Gospel. What's important about those times of trial is that they usually expose the reality of our hearts.
How do we know the tea flavor in a bag? We pour hot water on it to find out. So it is with our lives. God knows what sins or attitudes dwell inside our hearts, but oftentimes, we don't until we are backed up against a wall. It reveals our hearts, and trials can also show who our true friends are. If all these things are true, why do we run from trials? Instead, let us endure them with watchful eyes, looking for areas needing God's supernatural changing power. As we do, we will continue to be shaped more and more into the image of Jesus.
Life Lesson: Trials often reveal what's really in the heart in life and relationships.
Dear God,
Thank You for the trials in my life. At the same time, it may be hard to say that in the middle of suffering, I am thankful that You use those times to help me. Give me eyes to see the truth of my heart's condition and the wisdom and strength to apply Your Word to those areas.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
