Bethany’s own Kathy Scheidt was honored last night by Kerman Chamber of Commerce to celebrate being chosen as Grand Marshal of the 2026 Harvest Festival parade. One award was presented to her by Kerman native Brian Pacheco, Fresno County Supervisor.

Congrats to lifelong congregation member of Bethany Lutheran Church and just all around great person, Kathy Scheidt! Kathy is this year’s Harvest Festival Grand Marshal and we are so proud of her!

Seems like everyone is ready for the summer heat to leave, and for autumn leaves to arrive! Keeping in the “seasons” theme, we did some very late spring cleaning of our sign! Thanks to Mark Safreno for all his hard work sprucing this up! Remember you’re welcome to join us at 10 AM in person or over Zoom each Sunday for our weekly service and every Tuesday at 1 PM for Bible Study!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! We hope you’ve been having fun with the semiquincentennial scavenger hunt posted a while ago! Our memory book making workshop will be on Tuesday, August 4th at 2:30 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church. Here’s the great thing: even if you didn’t participate in the scavenger hunt, but you still want to learn how to make and order a memory book of a trip you took, a holiday you want to commemorate, or a series of memories over the years, YOU CAN STILL PARTICIPATE!
Bring your smart phone, tablet, or laptop WITH YOUR PICTURES loaded on it to the class and we’ll walk you through the process! We hope to see you there! Let a congregation member know if you’d like to participate or email [email protected] so we can plan, but you’re also free to just show up. The more the merrier!

Happy Thursday, everyone! For those participating in the photobook 250th scavenger hunt, below are some bonus words to help your creative process! Also, if you’re interested in the class itself, you can make a photobook of any memories stuck on your phone—we’ll teach you how to do that for free! The date of that class will be posted soon. (Also, a big thank you to Jack’s Butane for always providing the cutest seasonal displays on Shaw!)

We all have stuff that we think “I should run a yard sale to declutter” or “it’s time to give this item a new home where it will be loved again”. But the idea of actually organizing a yard sale isn’t that appealing. Well, Bethany Lutheran church has got your solution!! YARD SALE this Saturday, June 13th, on the corner of Shaw and Madera Ave. at 8:00 am. If you want to sell your treasures, tables will be available. Set up begins anytime before 8 but gates won’t open until then. MESSAGE ME and I’ll make sure a table is ready for you to set up and man for the morning.

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our Sewing Class yesterday and/or helped teach everyone! Lots of laughing, concentrating, and crafting made for a fun afternoon. Don’t forget to check the scavenger hunt list for our next class (a photobook class) so you can take those pictures this summer!

Happy Memorial Day! We thought it would be a good time to mention our summer community event. To celebrate our country’s 250th year of independence, we have a photo-book scavenger hunt! Below you’ll find a STARTER list of prompts (we’ll post bonus words throughout the summer, too). We make the distinction of starter because we appreciate that America and all it entails looks very different to everyone—that perspective of this country is why we think it’s important to commemorate whatever America means to you. Feel free to add your own “items” for pictures to complete your mosaic of America. In August, we’ll be offering a free photo-book class at the church so you can create your own memory book to commemorate this year with your summer photos, but attendance is not necessary to play along. Here we go!
