Conditioning the heart
“LOOKING UP, [Jesus] saw the rich people putting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw also a poor widow putting in two mites (copper coins). And He said, Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them; For they all gave out of their abundance (their surplus); but she has contributed out of her lack and her want, putting in all that she had on which to live. And as some were saying of the temple that it was decorated with handsome (shapely and magnificent) stones and consecrated offerings [laid up to be kept], He said,”“As for all this that you [thoughtfully] look at, the time will come when there shall not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”
Luke 21:1-6 AMPC

A couple of things I see here in this passage.

First, Jesus is watching. He saw the rich giving out of their abundance, and He also saw the poor widow give two small coins. If we gave as if we knew Jesus was watching, how much more would we do? Think about your kids or maybe when you were a kid, playing a sport, how much effort is given when dad is watching? You knew dad was watching so you gave more. Where’s the position of your heart?

Second, God honors sacrifice over abundance . The widow’s offering seemed small, but Jesus said she gave more than all the others because she gave out of her need. Her gift showed dependence on God, not confidence in earthly security. This reminds us that God is not impressed by what looks great outwardly. He is looking for a heart fully devoted to Him.

Third, Jesus shifts the focus from earthly things to eternal truth. As people admired the beauty of the temple, Jesus warned that the day would come when not one stone would be left upon another. Even the most impressive things in this world will not last. Wealth, buildings, status, and comfort can all fade, but a heart surrendered to God will stand. Don’t cling to anything of this world. With all the events unfolding and yet to come, fear grips people, paralyzing them with the dread of potential consequences. However, if we condition our hearts toward God, He becomes our blessed hope.
Jesus confirms this in scripture: “If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.”
Matthew 10:39 NLT
“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?”
Mark 8:36 NLT

That is why we must condition our hearts toward Him. Do not place your trust in what is temporary. Trust God fully, give with surrender, and remember that Jesus is watching. He is not after abundance . He is after your heart.

I pray this brings peace today.

Mark 6: 45-52

The disciples are in a boat struggling against strong winds while crossing the sea, even though they are EXACTLY where Jesus told them to be. They strain and grow fearful. Jesus comes to them walking on the water and in their panic they fail to recognize Him until He speaks “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” This moment is a powerful reminder that being in God’s will does not mean life will be free from trials and difficulty. There are mornings when we wake up already feeling the pressure of resistance, uncertainty, or fatigue just like the disciples battling the storm. This passage assures us that Jesus sees us in our struggle and does not wait for calm conditions to draw near!! He comes to us in the middle of the storm. His presence does not always remove the challenge immediately, but it TRANSFORMS our fear into courage because we are no longer alone. As we start our day remember that whatever we are facing, we are not abandoned! Jesus is near speaking peace over our hearts and inviting us to trust Him through every wave!!!

What are YOU bringing to the table?

Matthew 12:33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit.”

What does the bible say about the fruit? Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, SELF-CONTROL. All of these are important to have and to practice daily. I have a question for you. What fruit are you bringing to your table? Whether it be your kids, your job, your area of ministry, or even your marriage, having good fruit is vitally important.

Psalm 128:1-4 “Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord.

So much scripture on fruit and its importance. We can not maintain daily fruit if we do not have a daily relationship with our heavenly father. He is the vine and we are the branches, scripture tells us that whoever abides in him will bear much fruit. There is nothing more that I would want for me and my family than to have them eat fruit every day from the Lord himself. From being present in our kids' lives, to not having a dictatorship marriage. Showing love and kindness and patience etc, will leave an everlasting impact on them and on the people who we may have an impact on. So I want to encourage you all here today. Love your family, be present in your family, leave work at the work place, ask your kids how their day was. Husbands, LOVE your wife, help her out around the house, allow her opinion to be heard. MEN, protect yourself and your home with constant prayer to the Lord, he wants to give you the fruit of his ways so we can share with those who have never tasted them before! Love you all!

Choose the Spirit

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”
Galatians 5:16-17 ESV

Simple, yet so profound. Paul gets straight to the point: Walk. In. The. Spirit. It is abundantly clear from scripture that we cannot walk in the spirit and the flesh at the same time. It’s one or the other. And the beautiful thing about it? It’s our choice.

It’s no hidden secret that the desires of the flesh are pleasurable. And Satan knows it. He’s going to use it against us if we aren’t careful. He knows our weaknesses, he knows our triggers, and you better believe that he is going to exploit them in order to trip us up!

Walking in the Spirit isn’t for the faint of heart! It can be challenging. It can be painful. If this was easy, then everyone would do it. In Galatians 2:20, Paul talks about being crucified with Christ. There is nothing easy or pleasurable about being crucified. But that’s what we choose.

CHOOSE to conduct yourself as a child of God. CHOOSE to refrain from lashing out in anger.
CHOOSE to protect your eyes from viewing things that you have no business viewing.
CHOOSE to take up your cross DAILY and walk with Christ. No matter how heavy that cross may be.

On Assignment!(Pastor Brad)

Recently Pastor David gave me some sound wisdom and council regarding some raising teens. If that man gives you instruction..... HOLD TIGHT TO IT AND PUT IT TO PRACTICE! He is wise far beyond his years. Thank you for your wisdom Pastor David!

Im going through a book and the chapter in just started on is Assignments. Fathers! You have an Assignment! Not fathers yet? You have an Assignment. The wisdom pastor gave is exactly how this chapter starts. One of the healthy habits a man can cultivate is the daily reading of Proverbs. Fathers reading them with your sons/daughters. This Assignment is generational.

Proverbs 1:2-9 NLT
[2] Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. [3] Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair. [4] These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young. [5] Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance [6] by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables, the words of the wise and their riddles. [7] Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. [8] My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. [9] What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck.
This is how my "Assignment" started this week with Brody. We've been traveling through and digging deeper. Breaking down just a section of scriptures at a time and not overloading. It really hit what he's been dealing with rather quickly in the 1st chapter. Which when you read proverbs you can see that Solomon was most likely talking to his teenage boy. Puberty starts hormones amp up and shuffles start. Girls start catching your eye. The book is definitely conversation with his 12-14 year old son.

Fathers your Assignment, not our kids pastors Christian and Kayla, not Pastor Kim in youth, not even Mine or even Pastor David's, YOUR Assignment is "RAISE your child up in The Way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it."

Husbands- your Assignment is love your wife like Christ loved the church. Lay down your life for her.

Men, your Assignment, Go and make disciples. Fathers the first disciples you mentor is your spouse and then your children, then so on. Its easy to get it out of order because as men we relate to men. But there is an order or those you are called to first will grow altogether resent the message you carry. There has to be balance. A wise man told me in our first talk together over lunch.

"WE TEND TO FOCUS 95% ON THE 95% OF OUR LIVES THAT ANYONE ELSE CAN DO. WE HAVE TO LEARN TO SHIFT 95% OF OUR FOCUSNON THE 5% NOONE ELSE CAN DO. ANYONE CAN COME IN AND DO YOU JOB, LEAD YOUR MINISTRY, PREACH FROM THE PULPIT...... NOONE ELSE CAN HAVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WIGH GOD, BE THE HUSBAND TO YOUR WIFE OR BE THE FATHER TO YOUR CHILDREN."

How has your Assignment been going men? Where have you fell short and where are your knocking it out of the park?

From Dr. Tom Jones

Pruning Season #2
Last week, I mentioned in my devotional that it was pruning season.
In John 15:1-9, John tells of Jesus’ parable of the vine and branches. The picture is of a grape vineyard, commonly seen around the lush areas of Jerusalem. After sharing the parable, Jesus laid out the facts. Here are a few key facts for your consideration.
#1. Jesus is the Vine. That’s not a weak, spindly, sprawling limb. It’s not the leafy, green runner along a fence row (those are the branches). He’s the vine. The vine referred to is actually what we’d call the TRUNK. It’s the base that comes out of the ground. It’s about 3-40 inches high coming up to about the waist, thick and strong, but ends in a gnarled k**b. Jesus is the vine – He’s the root (of Jesse, Isaiah 11:10). Can we see a parallel in Jesus’ humanity here – cut off at the 33rd year, ending disfigured on Calvary, with His earthly work coming to an abrupt stop – only to be continued in the branches (that’s us)?! Perhaps.
#2. The Father is Vinedresser. He’s the keeper of the vineyard. He works tirelessly, relentlessly. His entire focus is on the health of the branches. His objective is to coax as much fruit as possible from the branches. For him, it’s all about healthy vines, number of grapes, and production. The character of the vinedresser is to never destroy the branches, but to care for them. Here are some of His characteristics:
• He’s loving: His main concern is the health of the branches.
• He’s watchful: Closely watching the vine and branches for their health and fruitfulness (remember, it’s ultimately about yield).
• He’s experienced: He knows what to look for (wilting, disease, pests, fruitfulness). He knows when to act and when to wait (not to soon, not too late – perfectly timing his actions – including pruning – at exactly the right time for the most results.
• He’s strategic: He lifts the branches and props them up and keeps them from falling to the ground. In pruning, He knows exactly when to prune, how to prune, where to prune, and even how much to prune.
• He’s careful: He doesn’t hack the branches – they’re too tender and precious for that. He take the branches in His hand and with surgical precision, prunes carefully.
REFLECTDION: If you’re in a pruning season, the Holy Spirit will reveal what the vineyard keeper is trying to remove (John 16:13). What needs to be pruned? Where and how can you be more fruitful for the Master? You can trust the vineyard keeper’s expertise and compassion. It may feel uncomfortable and uncertain, but just stay connected to the VINE – Jesus. Why? Because the fruit that will come from your life is worth it!
MEDITATION: Lord, you are the True Vine – I am a branch. I yield to you so that I can be shaped, supported, and pruned so I can bear more fruit. While you work out Your will in my life, allow me to rest in You, trust You, and become more fruitful. I want what you want: fruit, more fruit, and MUCH fruit!

Such a rich word Pastor Tom!

Worship

John 4:1-24

When we hear the word “worship”, many of us immediately think about the music portion of a church service. While singing is certainly a powerful way to worship, worship is much deeper than a song. Worship is the attitude of our hearts toward God.

In this passage, Jesus explains that God is not just looking for people who sing loudly or know all the lyrics. He is looking for true worshipers.

Worship is about the Heart.

• Jesus said we must worship in spirit. This means it must come from within us. From the depths of who we are. It’s not about routine or performance. True worship happens starts when our heart is fully focused on God.
• We can worship while singing, praying, serving, and during our everyday life when our lives are surrendered to Him.

Worship must be in Truth.

• Jesus also said worship must be in truth. This means our worship must be grounded in who God truly is, reveled to us through his word. When we read scripture, learn about God’s character, and recognize his faithfulness, it strengthens our worship.
• We worship him because he is holy, faithful, loving, and worthy.

Worship is a Lifestyle.

• Another powerful verse is Romans 12:1, which teaches us that we should offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to God. That means worship is not something we just do on a Sunday. It’s something we live every single day.
• Our actions, attitudes, and choices can all become acts of worship.

Ask yourself?

• Is my worship only during church services? Or is my life reflecting worship throughout the week?

God isn’t looking for singers. He’s looking for surrendered hearts.

The Ruakh - Josh Bridges

I’m going to give you homework first. Go read Ezekiel 37:1-14, then come back here. I ain’t about to type all that out!

This is one of my favorite passages in the entire Bible. The prophecy itself speaks to the eventual restoration of Israel from Babylonian exile. However, I believe us men can use this passage to perform a self-assessment, or a spiritual health check if you will.

Throughout this passage, I see three stages that these bones go through. From here on out, I want you to put yourself in these bones’ shoes (sandals?). Where are you spiritually? Which stage do you find yourself in?

1.) Dead and dry (v. 1-2): Zeke is placed right in the middle of what appears to be the remnants of a battlefield. No signs of life. Only death and destruction. This is where we find the unsaved, the ones who have not yet called on the name of the Lord. They are spiritually dead. Men who are empty and hollow, living life with no direction. Are you here? Are you trying to fill that hole in your heart with the things of this world?

2.) Put together but not alive (v. 7-8): After the Lord instructed Ezekiel to prophecy (verb) over the bones, they formed into bodies, but no breath was in them. They look like bodies, but they don’t have the signs of life. Are you playing Christian? Are you bearing spiritual fruit? This is a dangerous place for men to be spiritually. Just take a look at Revelation 3:1 and 3:16. This is one category that we cannot land in and still call ourselves children of God! We can play church and pretend to live the Christian life, but are you truly on fire for God? Are you cultivating an atmosphere of prayer, worship and fasting in your life? In your home?

3.) Alive and breathing (v. 10): Again, the Lord told Ezekiel to prophecy. But this time he instructed Zeke to prophecy to the BREATH. Because the BREATH was missing. The Hebrew used here is Ruakh, which also means spirit. At that point, the bodies came alive! Gentlemen, this is the goal. This is the standard. On fire. In constant communion with the Ruakh of God. Is your breath, your ruakh, missing? Could you use a fresh wind from God?

I take authority in Jesus’ name and, just like Ezekiel, I prophecy to the RUAKH over you. Breathe in the Spirit of God. COME ALIVE. Take up your mantle as a Man of God, strap on your armor, and go to WAR for yourself, your family, and your brothers and sisters in Christ. We NEED you in the fight. Love you, men.
