When we think about Valentine’s Day, we think about love.
Flowers. Chocolate. Cards. Maybe candlelight dinners.
But every human heart is asking a deeper question:
“Am I truly loved?”
The Bible tells us the greatest love story ever written.
“We love Him, because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
Before you ever loved God…
Before you ever chose Him…
Before you ever cleaned yourself up…
He loved you first.
Not because you were lovable.
Not because you earned it.
Not because you deserved it.
In fact, the Bible says:
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
That’s shocking love.
Not “I’ll love you if you change.”
Not “I’ll love you if you behave.”
Not “I’ll love you if you try harder.”
But:
“While you were still a sinner… Christ died for you.”
That is the gospel.
We were separated from God because of sin. Every one of us.
No amount of good works, church attendance, kindness, or religion could fix that.
But God did what we could not do.
He sent His Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus lived the perfect life we could not live.
He died the death we deserved to die.
He took the punishment for our sin on the cross.
And three days later, He rose again.
The cross was not an accident.
It was not a tragedy.
It was a love story.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” – John 15:13
Jesus didn’t just say He loved us.
He proved it.
And here is the beautiful part:
Salvation is not earned.
It is received.
The Bible says:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works.” – Ephesians 2:8–9
You don’t work for this love.
You don’t perform for this love.
You don’t strive for this love.
You simply trust in Jesus Christ alone to save you.
On Valentine’s Day, we celebrate love.
But the greatest Valentine ever given was not wrapped in ribbon —
it was wrapped in swaddling clothes,
and later stretched out on a cross.
If you have never received that love, today can be the day.
And if you already belong to Him, remember:
You are fully known.
Fully forgiven.
Fully loved.
Not because of who you are —
but because of who He is.
That is the greatest love story ever told. ❤️
