This morning was different.

Carter walked up to the altar with every piece of his old smoking life in his hands. Not hiding it. Not excusing it. Not holding onto it “just in case.”

He laid it down.

Then he smashed it.

And he threw it away.

No slow fade.
No halfway surrender.
No “I’ll quit later.”

Just a young man deciding that Jesus is greater than the habit.

The altar is not just a place we cry.
It’s a place we die to old things.

“And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off…” – Matthew 5:30

Today wasn’t about shame.
It was about freedom.

Proud of you Carter.
When you bring it to the altar, God brings the power.

This Monday we brought the gospel to a street corner in Hermiston oregon. We do this because it’s about taking the gospel outside the church and into the community. We do it because Jesus commanded us to go and preach the gospel, calling people to repentance, faith, and hope in Christ. It’s done in love, obedience, and concern for souls.
