We are a congregation of over 1,000 members who join together for worship, service, and fellowship. Currently, Advent is the fifth largest parish in the Diocese of Philadelphia where we as a church celebrate our Episcopal traditions. The Episcopal Church of the Advent is an inclusive Christian community that seeks to be the heart and hands of Christ in our world. Our congregation is composed of pe
ople from a variety of backgrounds - lifelong Episcopalians, people from other Christian denominations and religious traditions, and people with no prior religious affiliation. Just as Jesus always meets where we are, we too are committed to welcoming everyone regardless of where they may be in their faith journey. We strive to be a church where all may grow and deepen their relationship with God, form meaningful connections with others, and be equipped to live more fully into Jesus’s commands to love God with all our heart and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Whether you are a person of deep faith, struggling with faith, or entirely new to Christianity, please know you have a place in our community. We extend a warm invitation to you to join us! A message from Rev. And welcome the page of the Church of the Advent in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania! I suspect if you are reading this, you are most likely new to the Advent community, or at the very least, you are curious about this church. The best way to learn about the Church of the Advent is to visit! The worship of God is a central aspect of who we are, so please come and participate in a worship service one Sunday morning. If you are not quite ready to take that step and would prefer to have a conversation with me either by phone or at a local coffee shop, that is perfectly fine as well! Wherever you are in your journey of faith, please know you are welcome at the Church of the Advent! We are a diverse community of people (older, younger, married, single, divorced, gay, straight, nonbinary) who are seeking to grow deeper in our relationship with God through a life-giving relationship with Jesus; to strive after justice and peace; to guard the dignity of every human being; and to care for one another and the natural world. We do not presume to have all of the answers to life’s biggest questions, but we are committed to walking with each other and with God as we explore the questions. Tim Johnson, Rector (Pastor)
