So I haven’t been maintaining this very well for a while.
I apologize for that. But I’m around now and let’s talk Infocomm review!
Infocomm 2019 was..........
Overall, a bit underwhelming. Most of the stuff we saw that really impressed us was related to install practices or to improving something that already existed.
There were a few items of honorable mention though:
AJA Video Systems released their new KiProGo
https://www.aja.com/products/ki-pro-go
It is essentially a kiPro Ultra Plus but it records to H.264 on USB based media.
We love the concept, the function, the construction, and the overall quality of the product. It is exactly what we have come to expect in a good bang for the buck from AJA video.
What we are not thrilled about is that the initial release will only be 8bit 4-2-0 recording, but have no fear...the engineering team has promised us an updated firmware that will get us to a 4-2-2 10bit capability in the new future.
ALLEN & HEATH released a couple things right before infocomm and as usual...great buy for the dollar. The first is a 1.4 firmware for their SQ consoles that adds a PC application and the option to purchase the dynamic EQ and Multiband compressor plugins that come in the big brother D-live.
The second was some new I/O options for the SQ and D-Live consoles that are a very nice compliment to the existing line.
We still have not seen a channel count expansion on the SQ or that GLD replacement we have been praying for but as always we are keeping our fingers crossed for the future.
RapcoHorizon now has a series of optical HDMI cables that we were not aware of, these guys have a supper tough jacket, metal housing on the ends, removable ends for pulling and a cable pull loop for install. We LOVE IT!!!
Anyway, take a look below and let us know what you think.
