Last Thursday at Bible Study, our sister Ciana and brother Leon P. led us through Acts 7:30-33 and reminded us that God’s vision is perfect vision, and God’s timing is perfect timing.

In this passage, Stephen continues recounting the story of Moses. Forty years after Moses fled Egypt, God appeared to him in the wilderness through a burning bush. Moses was amazed by what he saw, but as he went closer, God called out to him and told him that he was standing on holy ground.

One of our biggest takeaways from the night was to be humble. Moses had once tried to step into what he thought God was calling him to do in his own way and his own timing. But years later, God met Moses and showed him that His plan had never changed—Moses just needed to learn how to follow God’s lead instead of his own.

Sometimes we can get so caught up in saying, “God, this isn’t what I asked for,” that we miss the fact that God may be giving us exactly what we need. What God is doing may not look like what you pictured, happen when you expected, or come in the way you prayed for—but God’s vision is perfect vision. He sees what we can’t see.

And the same is true about His timing. Moses may have thought his opportunity had passed, but God called him 40 years later. What felt delayed wasn’t forgotten. God was still preparing Moses for the assignment He had for him.

Sometimes we’re so focused on how we expect God to show up that we miss the ways He is already present. Moses probably wasn’t expecting to encounter God through a burning bush in the wilderness, but God was there.

So the questions we left with were:

How will you respond to the call?

Where are you so focused on how you expect God to show up that you may be missing how He is already present?

Hey family! We will be volunteering as recycle attendants at The Summit II on Thursday, August 20th from 1:30–4:30 PM. We will be helping collect and recycle cardboard and plastic during move-in week. It’ll be an outdoor event, so dress appropriately! Spots are limited! It’ll be first come, first serve! gotta represent JesusđŸ€ŁđŸ˜­đŸ˜­đŸ˜­

we see in James 1:19 it says to be slow to anger, but being “slow to anger” doesnt mean you’re not allowed to be anger . 😭 it is a real emotion, and even the Bible acknowledges that. the difference is learning not to let anger control what you say, do, or how you treat people.

the more we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, the more He produces peace, patience, gentleness, and self-control in places where we would’ve normally reacted out of frustration. (Galatians 5:22-23)

i made a list of what being slow to anger can practically look like:

‱ praying before reacting (no literally..i be like Lord give me the strength to not knock this person outđŸ„ČđŸ™đŸŸđŸ™đŸŸđŸ™đŸŸđŸ™đŸŸ)
‱ think before you speak🙈
‱ letting God correct your heart before you try to correct somebody else (yes you)
‱ andddddd remembering that every feeling doesn’t require a reactionđŸ€— (sometimes the best reaction is no reaction

Last Thursday at Bible Study, our sister Ciana and brother Leon P. led us through Acts 7:23–29 and talked about what it looks like to choose faith over fear, even when you’re scared.

In this passage, Stephen continues recounting the story of Moses. After seeing an Israelite being mistreated, Moses stepped in and killed the Egyptian who was oppressing him. Moses thought his people would understand that God was going to use him to rescue them, but they didn’t. When what he had done became known, fear took over, and Moses fled Egypt and settled in a foreign land.

One of our biggest takeaways from the night was simple: YOU’RE NOT GOD. Sometimes fear makes us feel like we have to take control, fix the situation ourselves, or make something happen before God does. But moving out of fear can cause us to act impulsively instead of trusting God’s timing and direction.

We also talked about choosing faith over fear and not allowing fear to define our faith. Being afraid doesn’t automatically mean you don’t have faith. Sometimes faith looks like being scared and still choosing to obey God anyway. Do it scared. Fear may be present, but it doesn’t have to be the thing making your decisions.

And when fear does get the best of us, our response shouldn’t be to run from God. Moses ran when he became afraid, but his story didn’t end there. God was still able to meet him, grow him, and use him for His purpose.

So here are the questions we left with:

What area of your life has fear caused you to run from God instead of toward Him?

Last Thursday at Bible Study, our brothers Howard and Leon Sanders led us through Acts 7:19–22 and talked about what it looks like to trust God even when life feels uncertain.

In this passage, Stephen continues recounting Israel’s history by reminding us of the season when Pharaoh oppressed the Israelites and ordered their baby boys to be killed. In the middle of fear, injustice, and uncertainty, Moses was born. Although it looked like the enemy had the upper hand, God was already at work behind the scenes, preserving the very person He would later use to deliver His people. Even when no one else could see it, God’s hand was still on the story.

One of our biggest takeaways from the night was that God is always with you. His presence isn’t determined by your circumstances, your comfort, or whether life is going according to plan. We also learned that faithfulness leads to fruitfulness. God often calls us to simply trust and obey Him today, knowing that He is producing something greater than we can currently see.

So often we try to take control because we think we know what’s best, or because waiting on God feels uncomfortable. But when we try to control every outcome, we can miss the peace that comes from trusting the One who is already in control. God has never asked us to have everything figured out—He asks us to faithfully trust Him one step at a time.

So here’s the question we left with:

What has God been asking you to trust Him with that you’ve been trying to control?

don’t ignore that discernment 😭

“if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” -james 1:5

discernment is God-given wisdom that helps you recognize what aligns with His truth and what doesn’t.

the more time you spend in God’s Word and in prayer, the more you’ll begin to notice when something doesn’t sit right.

some may call this being judgmental, but it’s not because your mind is being shaped by His truth..not your own.

God never tells us to lean on our own understanding. He invites us to ask Him for wisdom, and He promises to give it generously.

so if you need clarity before making a decision, entering a relationship, accepting an opportunity, or responding to a situation
 ask God first. He cares about leading His children.
