It’s never that deep…until it is

We cannot use Gods name in vain or even anything else “ong” “I swear to God” “OMM”
The list goes on……

We must understand the value and power of that name

““You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You don’t always have to defend yourself by using this saying that your actions be the truth.

“I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.”
‭‭3 John‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You must not only understand the importance of God’s name, but also remember if we are walking in truth there is nothing we have to swear on.🫡

We cannot wallow in condemnation.

In this life, we will make mistakes. But even after those mistakes, we can continue to make better choices and strive to do what is right.

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sometimes, that means feeling the weight of the decisions we’ve made. But we must remember that we are not defined by our mistakes.

Remember, your mistakes are not something you can’t recover from. They are not something that permanently stays with you. You must have grace for yourself through Christ. He has given us the ability not only to forgive others, but also to forgive ourselves.

“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”
‭John 8:36 NLT‬

Yesterday at Bible study, our brothers Howard and Jimmie led us through Acts 6:11-15 and talked about what it looks like to remain faithful to God when your character and reputation are under attack.

In this passage, false witnesses were brought against Stephen and accusations were made about him that were not true. Even as he stood before the council being criticized and falsely accused, Stephen remained steadfast. Instead of seeing fear, anger, or panic, those looking at him saw a face like that of an angel.

Our main points for the night were that when the devil can’t destroy you, he will attempt to destroy your character, and when the enemy cannot defeat your witness, he will often attack your reputation.

A lot of times when we feel misunderstood, criticized, or falsely accused, our first response is to defend ourselves, become angry, or try to prove everyone wrong. While there may be times to speak the truth, Stephen reminds us that our identity is not found in what people say about us, but in who God says we are.

We also talked about how the world is constantly trying to place labels on us. Labels from our past mistakes, failures, insecurities, or even the opinions of others. But as believers, our goal is not for people to see those labels when they look at us. Our goal is for people to see Jesus.

We asked ourselves: How do you typically respond when you feel misunderstood, criticized, or falsely accused? When people look at your life, do they see the labels others have given you, or do they see Jesus?

When our identity is rooted in Christ, we can remain faithful even when others misunderstand us, because our reputation is safest in God’s hands.

If you missed it, you can catch the replay on our page. We would love to see you next week. First time you visit you’re a guest, second time you’re family ❤️
