Thomas Church family,
On this Pentecost Sunday, we are reminded of the power of the Holy Spirit and the importance of yielding ourselves as a faith community to the movement of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost reminds us that when God’s Spirit moves, lives are radically transformed, the Church is strengthened, and ordinary people are empowered to do extraordinary ministry in the name of Jesus Christ.
As we celebrate Men’s and Women’s Day today, I also stand before you with deep gratitude and humility as I celebrate 14 years of ministry with you here at Thomas Church.
For 14 years, we have prayed together, worshipped together, cried together, and rejoiced together. You have helped Sabrina, and I raise Justice in this church, and for that, we are so ever grateful. We have walked through seasons of challenge and seasons of joy, but through it all, we have learned to continue to trust in God and remain faithful.
The same Spirit that descended upon the early church continues to guide and sustain our congregation today. And for that, I give God praise. I thank God for everyone who has faithfully served this church with love, sacrifice, compassion, and dedication to the mission of Jesus Christ.
I also want to share with you that I recently received a call from our District Superintendent, Rev. Karli Pidgeon, who informed me that Bishop Williamston and the Cabinet have reappointed me to serve Hartzell Mt. Zion Church in Slidell. I am honored and humbled by the continued trust placed in me to serve God’s people and lead in ministry.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your pastor. Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to the vision and mission of Thomas Church to share the love of Jesus by engaging, connecting, and growing spiritual leaders to realize the fullness of God’s Kingdom.
But church, let me be clear, I believe wholeheartedly, our best days are still ahead of us. As we continue to yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit, God will continue to open doors, transform lives, and strengthen this ministry for generations to come.
So today, we celebrate not just 14 years of ministry together — we celebrate the faithfulness of God. To God be the glory for all He has done.
Effective, July 1st, Rev. Fredrick H. Sweetwyne will become the Pastor of Thomas Church. Please be in prayer for him and his wife, Ollie as they transition to serving the South Kenner community.
Blessings,
Pastor Kaseem
