To Our Fellow Christian Churches,
In our desire to sow biblical truth we exhort all churches to reject the celebration of
sexual and gender identities, especially during so-called Pride Month and instead, celebrate
each person’s seeking a new identity in Christ.
As Christian churches that preach and teach God’s Word revealed in the Bible, we are
joined together in Christ and in sharing the gospel to our church families and the larger
community beyond the church. We are on common ground when God’s love for each individual
human being is affirmed and when we share the message that each individual human being
has the opportunity to be included in God’s kingdom. However, we believe that the church
celebrating and rejoicing in a community of people bound together by pride in their disparate
sexual and gender identities is inconsistent with biblical principles.
When the church celebrates LGBTQ+ it is communicating affirmation and sanction of
sexual behavior and gender identity that is not aligned with a biblical understanding of both
God’s creation of male and female and the plan for sexuality within the human experience. The
Bible reveals God’s intentionality in creating male and female as complimentary in life and
family. In addition, the Bible affirms sexuality within the boundary of heterosexual marriage.
Our greatest concern is that when God’s standards are violated we see that both adults and
children are harmed.
We believe the church can support all people seeking to know Jesus without affirming
sexual behavior or gender identity that is misaligned with biblical truth.
