God sees your thirst.

Each of us thirsts: for love, purpose, acceptance, forgiveness, rest. You may try to fill them with things, approval, achievement, busyness, or relationships. But often those things let us down. Jesus met the woman at her moment of thirst. As he invited her, he invites us to trust him with our thirst.

And the good news? God already knows your thirst. Before you name it, before you understand it, Jesus is already sitting at the well with you. You are already fully seen.

The Temptation of Jesus
Lies Satan tells (Matt 4:1-11)

Love = being self sufficient (stones to bread)
act independently — to meet your own needs apart from
the Father’s provision.
Love = manipulation (tossing yourself off the mountain)
Your relationship with the Father is based on performance,
Make God prove he loves you
Love is reduced to a bargain. (I will give you all the kingdoms..)
I will give you this if you will give me that

In each temptation, Jesus resists not by sheer willpower but by remaining grounded in the Father’s love and the Spirit’s presence. God doesn’t just tell us how to live faithfully — he lives faithfully for us, as one of us. Jesus isn’t simply our example in the wilderness; he is our representative.

Trials (wilderness) are openings for us to trust God and His love.

“Treat others the way you want to be treated” is what Jesus said, right? Not exactly. Here’s one way to align our golden rule with Christ’s instruction. Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and body. We lean into the presence of God in our lives because we cannot fully love without him. The Spirit grows us in our dependence on, love for, and desire to obey God. And love your neighbor as yourself. We remain in God’s presence as we reflect how he loves us personally to others. Then, how we love our neighbors will reflect how God loves them. Lord, continue to transform me into your image. Renew in me a heart of mercy and grace for those around me that they too may experience your love more fully. Amen.

What about God’s blessings in this life — shouldn’t we hold onto his provisions in case we need them? This question is both valid and flawed. We are reminded that God provides all we need, so we don’t have to worry about holding onto so much here on earth. Think about the many temporary things you have thrown away over the years. Note the joy you experience as you remember them. Now, think about how you have participated with God in blessing someone, or how you have received God’s blessing from another person. What beautiful treasure awaits us in our home in heaven! Lord, open my heart, hands, and mind to let go of temporary, selfish treasures. And enable me to be ready to receive eternal, joy-filled, and life-giving treasures! Thank you for the glimpses of heaven you give us through our relationships.

God’s words are in response to David and point to Jesus Christ. This covenant is our foundation for life as Christ-followers. God’s faithful love and promise will always endure, no matter our missteps, confusion, doubt, or fear. We stand together as disciples of Jesus; we learn to rejoice more from being in his presence than in being correct. We learn to let go of past hurts, rather than to allow the thorns to pierce our hands as we hang on to these hurts. We learn to pour out the cup full of bitterness in order to fill it with forgiveness. We receive and rejoice in God’s covenant love; we choose each day to share it with others. Thank you, Lord, for your faithful love and promise in my life. Open my heart to receive and reconcile as you lead.

Our Story

Christian Family Fellowship is a congregation of Grace Communion International. We are an inclusive group of believers who pursue God’s Word (the Living Word, Jesus, revealed in the written Word, the Bible). It is our quest to follow where Jesus, by his Word and Spirit, leads. We serve together to point others toward the Triune God, helping them participate in the love and life of God, in union with Christ, by the Spirit.
