For those who wondered about our Denomination's Camp in Black Mountain, here is the email sent out by Rev Dr Ricky Warren, President of the OFWB Convention Services.
A Special Message from The Reverend Dr. Ricky Warren, President
of the Convention of Original Free Will Baptists
Many are asking, so here is a report on the status of Cragmont Assembly after the devastating flooding in Western NC. Please share this information with your churches through as many means as possible.
Cragmont is good compared to other places in Western NC. No one was injured there, and only the driveways and drains were damaged, but that damage was extensive. We need to work cooperatively as a denomination to make these repairs soon.
Donations for Cragmont's repairs, loss of food, revenue, etc., may be made through cragmontassembly.com, the Cragmont website or by pressing the button below. The donations link should be available sometime Sunday afternoon. Checks can always be mailed to Cragmont Assembly, 1233 North Fork Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
The campus and surrounding area are without phones, power, or water. Cell phone service is available for some people, but not everyone. For obvious reasons, previously made reservations for lodging at Cragmont are on hold until things return to normal.
The immediate need is for prayer, planning, preparation, and then participation. Canned food, snacks, and water for first responders and initial work teams are needed immediately.
We are told that I-40 will be usable soon, maybe as early as Sunday evening. An experienced disaster response ministry is setting up its staging area at Cragmont with plans to serve the area from Black Mountain to Asheville. By the middle of the week, Cragmont will be able to serve up to 10,000 meals per day!
Teams and individuals who can come and work are needed. Please sign up at cragmontassembly.com, the Cragmont website, or by pressing the button below. Then come immediately or as soon as possible. The volunteer registration link should be available sometime Sunday afternoon. Please make sure you register before you travel to Cragmont.
There are many different jobs to be done on campus or on assigned work teams in the surrounding area. Lodging will be provided free of charge, but realize there are currently no lights and no showers, and expect to haul water from the creek in buckets to flush your toilet.
It is time to come together and draw from the vast resources God has blessed us with to help Cragmont minister to the hurting people of its surrounding community.
