Whether you are seeking a new church home or exploring church for the first time, we are glad you are here. Our congregation’s roots trace back over 200 years. The sanctuary has been in continuous use since 1857. That’s a long time, and we are proud of our tradition! Yet in the tradition of the Christian faith, we are relative newcomers! We honor and respect our past while looking ahead to the fut

ure. And we are excited about what we see! We are growing in spiritual vitality, outreach and mission, and in people participating. On a typical Sunday morning, over 50 people of varying ages gather to worship at 11:00 am. We offer nursery services for infants and toddlers, although children of all ages are welcome in worship. Children’s Church is a ministry to children ages 3 to 11 that exposes them to the beginning of the worship service, and then they retreat to age appropriate Bible lessons and activities. Sermons are recorded and available on our website, www.antiochmethodistchurch.org. Here are some of the ministries in which we’re involved:
An engaging community Bible Study that meets each Tuesday night with a meal. Sending teams of volunteers to repair homes in eastern North Carolina
Reenactment of Jesus journey at Easter
Assemble emergency response kits in case of natural disasters anywhere in the
world
Join community churches to be a “Neighbor Helping Neighbors,” a construction
ministry
Gleaning vegetables from area farms for those experiencing poverty and hunger
A mission – oriented group of the United Methodist Women
Vibrant “Prayer-gram” ministry
Monthly food collections for those in need
Gift ministries for local and international children

As some of you may know, Victoria Elementary School suffered significant damage after water pipes busted in the school during the recent arctic blast. Students are now displaced for the foreseeable future. Many teachers lost all of their teaching supplies during this disaster. If you are able, any items are welcome. I have created an Amazon wishlist with items I have been told are needed most. The delivery address is set up to have items delivered directly to the LCPS School Board Office. You are also welcome to purchase items in store and deliver them yourself. One of the best suggestions I received from LCPS is purchasing a pencil box and filling it with pencils, colored pencils, crayons, markers, etc. This would make distribution easiest for them. Today we welcomed Cameron Bailey, who delivered a very impactful sermon about not losing the true meaning of God’s words. Just because something has been done a certain way, doesn’t mean it is the right way. At some point, someone might have done something a certain way just to make it work. People sometimes look at traditions that they have always known as the right way when, in fact, it was just altered to make it easier. Do not let traditional human practices guide you through your faith and cloud or blur the Word of God. Don’t lose sight of God’s Word…that is the meat. Don’t trim the meat to make it work in your life.
