We were excited to host three new groups at the "Inn of Hope" at SPADE so far in 2019: the Ladies Retreat from Germantown Mennonite Church in Philadelphia, a group of women from the Bridges Fellowship in Shillington, PA, and a Spring Break Missions Team led by Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Boone, NC. We hope you all had a blessed time, and that we see you again soon!

It was two years this past February 12th that Charlotte McFarland went home to be with the Lord and
she is greatly missed.

The Board of Directors has adopted the idea of modifying the little cottage on the property into a pavilion structure with picnic tables under roof and a fire place built at one end. The structure will be named “The McFarland Pavilion”
to honor both Howard and Charlotte, the founders of SPADE.

Work has begun and we hope that the pavilion will be in full use for the summer. Picnic tables will be purchased. We hope to have an inscription “Charlotte’s Gathering Place” inside, as she enjoyed interacting with all
of the groups—especially our International Students.

God provided for SPADE in a miraculous way. Our boiler died in December and SPADE, operating
on limited funds, did not have the funds to replace it. The Board prayed and God answered. God used
the J.M. Oliver Company to donate a new boiler to us with all the parts. Tim McFarland led a team of
men to do the installation January 5th. This team also volunteered their time. Thank you Tim, John
Shaw, Rick Warfield, Howard Johnson, Dan and Dick Erdos for your labor of love in this all day project.
Our deepest thanks to the J. M. Oliver Co. for this most generous donation.
