Steve Frady Guitars

Steve Frady Guitars I started guitar building in 1979. In 2007 I traveled to LA and studied with Buzz Fieten to become a licensed retrofitter for acoustic guitars.

I am a member of the Guild of American Luthiers, and of the Luthiers Interactive of North Texas. My guitars are carefully handcrafted from the finest tonewoods. For the soundboard, I use spruce, western red cedar, port orford cedar, and red wood. The sides and backs are constructed from traditional woods like rose wood, walnut, and maple. I also use unique woods like mesquite and osage orange. The

soundboard, the back, and the body cavity are all tap tuned to specific frequencies to produce a balanced sound. All guitars are intonated with the Buzz Feiten tuning system so that the guitar plays in tune in all finger board positions.

This a 1967 Gretsch guitar . The binding on the body and finger board had disintegrated. I replaced the binding and installed new frets. This instrument belongs to Chuck Frizzel. Chuck is a professional musician and has his own recording studio. He also has a rehearsal facility in downtown Garland that he rents out to bands.

This is a 1967 Gretsch. The binding had disintegrated. I replaced the binding on the body and the neck. The frets had to be removed to install the new binding which required a new fret job. This was the hardest repair job I have ever done. I am so glad it is finished.
