Mt Vernon Reformed United Church of Christ

Mt Vernon Reformed United Church of Christ Historic, German reformed church located in quaint Keedsyville, Maryland. Beautiful church. Delancy Catlett is the minister. Church Service is Sunday at 10:45am.

64 S Main Street, Keedysville, MD 21756. Please check the page for updates.

64 South Main Street – In 1835, a stone building was erected on this site owned by J.J. Keedy which was used as both a church
and a school. The Reformed congregation was organized and worshiped there until 1852 when a new Mt. Vernon Reformed
Church was built on land donated by Samuel
Cost. In 1892 the present Mt.

Vernon Reformed United Church of Christ building was erected through the works of leading
families of the community, including John J., Samuel, and Christian Keedy, Samuel Pry, and the Cost family. The interior has the Brussels carpeting, Eastlake potieres, and chandelier from the 1852 original church. The pews reused from the 1852 church were said to have served as hospital beds when this church was used as a hospital after the Battle of Antietam. The story is told that decaying appendages that were amputated and buried in a pit against the foundation caused the
foundation to fail. The chapel portion of the 1892 church was constructed over a mass grave containing the remains of soldiers who died at the hospital. Today the Mt. Vernon Reformed Church is a member of the United Church of Christ. It’s mission is to witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the means of grace in the Keedysville area in both word and sacrament. It witnesses to the world as a member of the United Church of Christ.

We are just a few weeks away from our 3rd annual Williamsport Christkindlmarkt 2020 at Kelly Moore Sheds & Marketplace! We have over 30 vendors participating this year. This year's market is a fundraiser for local elementary school children for our Shoes for St. Nicholas shoe drive. Please bring a monetary donation or a pair of new children's shoes to be donated at the entryway gate. Also, please bring your driver's license if you would like to participate in our Wine and Beer Garden hosted by Great American Brewing Company and Antietam Overlook Farm.

We are watching our state's regulations closely, but because our market is an outdoor event, we are still planning on hosting the event. The safety of our family, staff, vendors and customers is our main concern. Please watch this page for updates.

We want you to have a safe holiday shopping experience with us. Please be aware of our guidelines for this year's market:

1. Masks are mandatory, inside sheds and the main building, and outside during the event.
2. Social distancing is mandatory. Our exhibitors are spaced out for social distancing. No more than 1 family or 2 to 3 people within sheds at a time. No more than 10 people within the main building at a time.
3. Sanitize hands often. There will be sanitation stations in each building. and throughout the event. There is also a "salt water" hand washing station with the portapotties.
4. Dining will be outside only. Standing tables only. In addition to our normal cleaning, which we have always been very conscious of, we have also added a clean team which will move about the event cleaning any contact points. and dining tables.
5. St Nicholas will be stationed outside in a gazebo for socially distanced, fundraising photo opportunities.
6. Dress warmly in the event that it is cold. Please dress according to the weather.
7. Parking is in a grass field. Please be prepared should it be muddy or snowy.
8. Please be prepared to give your 1st name, number in party and a cell phone number to our gate keepers. This is for the safety of our visitors should we need to contact them. Also be prepared to show your ID if you would like to participate in our Wine & Beer Garden to receive a wristband.

We encourage you to come out and support our exhibitors who depend upon arts and craft shows like ours for a living. Kelly Moore Sheds & Marketplace claims no liability, so we also want you to make decisions that you’re comfortable with. If you need to skip the market this year, we certainly understand and hope to see you next year. Next year's Williamsport Christkindlmarkt is slated for December 3rd, 4th and 5th, 2021.

We look forward to this event and hope to see you soon! Please watch this page for any updates and vendor spotlights.

Happy Holidays!
Meredith & Kelly Moore and Family

Join the challenge of posting a picture of a place of worship, where the main requirement is that you do NOT appear in the photo. Just a picture, no description, just a place of worship-- church, synagogue, mosque, nature, temple, meditation room, any place of worship to a higher being.

The goal is to flood profiles with photos of places to collectively pray to give faith and hope that the world will "heal" and we will no longer take for granted the lives we live. To remind us of Him and to believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking.

Copy the text to your status, post a photo and let's pray virtually around the world...
