It is with great sadness, but also deep gratitude, that we announce this Sunday will be Reverend Michelle Gowin’s last Sunday with us here at Kechi United Methodist Church.

For the past 8 years, Pastor Michelle has faithfully served our church and community with compassion, dedication, and love. She has been an amazing pastor, helping connect our church more deeply with the community and sharing our mission that everyone is welcome, loved, and accepted.

We will miss her more than words can say, but we are so thankful for the time, care, leadership, and heart she has given to Kechi UMC. As she begins this next chapter, we look forward to all the wonderful things God has ahead for her.

A reception lunch will be held after worship at 11:00 a.m. this Sunday to celebrate Pastor Michelle, thank her for her ministry, and wish her well. All are welcome to attend.

United Methodist Open Door is committed to meeting basic needs, supporting positive life change, restoring hope, and upholding the dignity of every individual we serve. As the number of people experiencing hardship continues to rise, the demand for our services grows as well.

To help shed light on what our vulnerable neighbors are experiencing, we’re sharing some recent statistics on homelessness in Sedgwick County. These numbers represent real people—individuals and families who are struggling to find safety, stability, and support.
By understanding the challenges they face, we can all move closer to building a stronger, more compassionate community together.

There's joy in connection. Let's dive into something reflective and meaningful together this Advent season!

Advent is the season leading up to Christmas. It is 25 days of preparation. This year, we're inviting you to prepare by looking for the visual reminders of God's presence... daily.

We offer a practice for the Advent season that we hope is more meaningful and rewarding than it is hard: Our Advent Photo-a-Day Challenge. Each day during the season of Advent, we'll post a word for reflection on both The United Methodist Church's page as well as The UMC Instagram account. Take a moment (or several moments) of pause and reflection, then share a response to that word through a picture posted on social media. Post your picture on social media with --or tag us directly on Facebook with .

Don't worry if you miss a day or two--there's no failing this challenge. (And we know you don't need the extra pressure!) We just hope to provide a gift of added meaning to this special season.

Please join us in prayer for the Ushindi United Methodist Fellowship in Kansas City. Two members of the congregation have been injured by gunfire. One child may face paralysis below the waist due to injuries. A woman was wounded in a separate incident. May God grant healing to these individuals and peace to the community.
