Devotional Day 5: Jesus: Our Savior and Our Example

Devotional
It is easy to think of Jesus only as the One who saves us from our sin. And He absolutely is that. But Scripture also holds Him up as the One we are meant to follow. He is our Savior, and He is our example.
Jesus did not float through life untouched by difficulty or temptation. He faced real pressure, real pain, and a real choice in the Garden of Gethsemane. And in that moment, He chose the Father's will over His own comfort. Not because He had no other option, but because He loved the Father too much to do anything else.

That is the kind of obedience we are being invited into. Not a white-knuckled, gritted-teeth compliance, but a deep, love-driven yes to God that holds even when it is costly.

You will not get it right every time. None of us do. But do not let failure be the end of the story. Keep turning back. Keep saying yes. Keep trusting that God's love for you is the foundation beneath every step you take.

The life of holiness and joyful obedience is not a life of perfection. It is a life of persistent, love-fueled pursuit of the God who has never stopped pursuing you.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for showing us what trusting obedience looks like. Help us to follow Your example, not out of obligation, but out of a love for the Father that grows deeper every day. Amen.
