This Sunday:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Sunday we have a one off Sunday before we begin our Summer series: Psummer in the Psalms. Today is Trinity Sunday. It’s a special opportunity to reflect just who it is that we worship! All of our lessons involve the Trinity, and in our Gospel lesson, Jesus commands us to do something that requires trust. We need to trust the Triune God. We already do it with the big things. Why not with the small things too? Thankfully God gives us a reason to trust him! Come find out what that is! I can’t wait to see you all this Sunday!

Sunday, May 17:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Sunday we continue our Easter series: What Difference Does It Make? This week we see how Jesus lives to rule all things for the Church! This Sunday we will celebrate the ascension of Jesus, when he returned to Heaven after completing everything he needed to do. His part of the job is done. Ours is not. He rules all things for his Church, so that we can carry out the job that he has given us: making disciples of all nations! This Sunday we will see first hand how that job continues as we examine our confirmands McKinly Blanchard, AJ Freitag, Bryson Hoffman, and Macie Treichel (a Resurrection and Life member who lives in Kasson). Lord willing they will demonstrate how the Lord raises up the next generation of his disciples! I can’t wait to see you all this Sunday!

This Sunday:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Sunday we continue our Easter series: What Difference Does It Make? This week we see how Jesus lives to call me to live for him! I suppose that’s the definition of a Christian. Someone who lives for Christ. The question though is, WHY should someone live for Christ? Our lesson for this week is full of different answers! I can’t wait to see you all this Sunday.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Sunday we continue our Easter series: What Difference Does It Make? This week we see how Jesus lives to be our Good Shepherd. That’s right, it’s Good Shepherd Sunday once again. But this year we see first hand how the lectionary keeps us from rinsing and repeated the same old same old. This year our specific focus will be on John 10:1-10 the verses right before Jesus says “I am the good shepherd.” In these passages we focus on the competition between the shepherd that calls us by name and all the people trying to distract us from him. We will also focus on Jesus’ statement “I am the gate.” Simple, plain, but profound. I can’t wait to see you all this Sunday.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Sunday we continue our Easter series: What Difference Does It Make? This week we see how Jesus lives to restore my hope. We’ve all been there. The good thing you were looking forward to is suddenly taken away. We say that Jesus’ resurrection makes everything okay. But do we actually believe it? In our lesson for today, Jesus restores our hope in a way you might not expect! I can’t wait to see you all this Sunday.

This Sunday:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Sunday we continue our Easter series: What Difference Does It Make? Each week we will look at a different way that Jesus’ resurrection makes a difference in our lives. Not a little difference with no consequence, but big differences—the kind that matter! This week we see how Jesus lives to give us proof and peace. Since I’ll be busy with a pastors’ retreat this week and won’t have time to prepare a sermon, Pastor Birkholz will be covering for me this week.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Each week we will look at a different way that Jesus’ resurrection makes a difference in our lives. Not a little difference with no consequence, but big differences—the kind that matter! We’ll start by seeing how his resurrection takes us from death to life! Now we see death as a sleep. A sleep from which we WILL wake up! I can’t wait to see you all this Sunday.

Our Savior members—
The decision has been made to cancel church for tomorrow, March 15, because of the weather. I’ve heard of several other area WELS churches cancelling tomorrow. Martin Luther College decided to cancel Monday classes so that students wouldn’t be returning from spring break in the bad weather we’re expecting this weekend.

I’ll preach the sermon I prepared next weekend.

Alternatively, there are other WELS congregations that will have live streams of their services. AND since we’re in the process of overhauling our website and getting our own livestream up and running, take lots of notes! How were their websites and pages? Pay attention to how they stream the service. What did they do well? What could have used improvement? This week is a perfect opportunity to see what other churches’ online presence is like and figure out how we can improve ours! Next week, during Bible study, we will take a few minutes to discuss different things that you noticed!

May the Lord guard and keep us as we brace for this bad weather! I can’t wait to see you all next week.

Your servant in Christ,

Pastor Christie
