Living in Paradise - It's Still Only a Preview | Spencer Revely
We're blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth β€” and it's a shame to let a day pass without thanking God for it. But the next time a view stops you in your tracks here in Hawaii, don't let your wonder end there. Let it remind you not just of how good God is, but of how good your future is. The same God who made all this beauty has promised to make you into something even more glorious than the things you're looking at.
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 15:35–49 | Psalm 19:1

Are You Asking God the Wrong Way | Spencer Revely
Not every question about God is a good one. A wise question grows out of faith and hope β€” it trusts God and seeks to understand Him more. A foolish question demands to understand everything before it will trust at all. As Anselm put it nearly a thousand years ago: "I do not seek to understand in order to believe, but to believe in order to understand." The issue was never your intelligence. It's whether you'll humble yourself enough to trust the God who knows what you can't.
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 15:35–36 | Anselm of Canterbury

The Right Way to Cope When Life Disappoints You | Spencer Revely
We all do it β€” when life gets stressful, we tell ourselves, "Just a week from now, I'll be on that vacation." That pleasant expectation brings real peace in the present. But what if the same strategy could carry you through life's deepest disappointments? When we're frustrated, hurt, or worn down by this world, the answer isn't a better daydream β€” it's hope for the life to come. We're only pilgrims here, and the best is still ahead.
πŸ“– 1 Corinthians 15:35–49

The Dangerous Influence Isn't the Obvious One | Spencer Revely
We picture "bad company" as the obvious crowd β€” the troublemakers, the people clearly headed nowhere good. So we pat ourselves on the back: my friends aren't criminals, I'm fine.
But that's not the danger Paul is warning about. The people most likely to pull you off course are the ones you admire. The cool ones. The ones you want to be like. Their threat it's that they offer you illicit doctrine.
And because you respect them, you let it slide. That's exactly how it gets in.

He Wasn't Even Looking for Jesus | Mike Wolfe
The man at the pool had been crippled for 38 years. He didn't cry out to Jesus. He didn't go looking for Him. He didn't even know who Jesus was. And Jesus healed him anyway.
That's the heart of it: Jesus doesn't only come to people who are searching for Him. He comes to the helpless, the stuck, the ones lying by the side of the pool with nothing to offer.
And if you belong to Christ β€” that was you, too. He found you before you ever went looking for Him.

What Actually Worries Your Pastor | Spencer Revely
Here's something a pastor doesn't usually admit: the sins people confess to me don't really disturb me. I expect them, and I have hope that God will grow that person β€” just like He's grown me.
What makes my stomach drop is different. It's when someone tells me they've got a new friend group who aren't believers. That they've started dating someone who isn't a Christian. That they're deep into some podcast or channel from someone far from God.
That's where the real danger is. Not because those people are obviously "bad" β€” but because, little by little, they become the ones shaping you.

Jesus Never Said "Thus Saith the Lord" | Mike Wolfe
Read the Gospel of John and you'll notice Jesus opening with a strange phrase β€” "Truly, truly, I say to you." He says it 25 times, and only in John.
Here's what's easy to miss: the prophets always said, "Thus saith the Lord" β€” pointing away from themselves to a higher authority. Jesus never does that. He just says, "Truly, truly." Because He isn't passing along the message. He is the Lord. He is the Word.
A phrase you've probably read right past, and it's a quiet claim to divinity.

Whose Voice is Discipling You? | Spencer Revely
Whose podcasts do you listen to? Whose YouTube channels do you watch? Whose social media do you follow? Yes β€” including the one you're scrolling right now.
The people who hold your attention are quietly shaping your beliefs, your affections, even your style. They're making you more like them. That's not neutral. The voices you give your ears to are forming your character, for better or worse.
So it's worth asking honestly: are the people influencing you pulling you toward God, or away from Him?

"You have nothing to fear in death. God is more committed to your resurrection than you are." Not your effort. Not your grip on faith. His commitment. He is more committed to raising the ones you love in the Lord than even you are. Rest in that today.

Your rival team makes a great play and you mutter, "lucky shot." You're losing an argument but you double down anyway, saying things you don't even believe β€” just so you don't have to admit you're wrong. We all do it. And it's exactly what the Pharisees did with Jesus. They watched Him heal a man who hadn't walked in 38 years… and still refused to admit it was good. The question worth sitting with: where are you doing the same thing? Don't be so stubborn that it costs you.
