“Kua hinga te tōtara i te wao nui a Tāne.”
A great tree has fallen, and we honor his life in prayer and deep gratitude for his leadership and walk of faith. Many of us look to our own hall of faith, and John Nuilitia lies in our genealogy. He walked humbly before our God, and we know he was welcomed into His presence, surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses I’m sure Songs were sung and the haka was heard in the heavens, while lightning flashed here as he left this world.
But we who remain on this land feel the loss of this mighty tōtara. We mourn him, and we know that as we mourn, we will be comforted. Our mourning is evidence that John, a good creation of our Creator, is missed and will continue to be missed.
Well done, good and faithful servant. We will miss your voice and your wisdom, and we now walk in your legacy.
Please continue to pray and send support to his Ohana as they grieve
Journey well.
