NorthEastminster Presbyterian Church NEMPC, a historic Northeast KCMO church, seeks to be sent out in the light of God's grace from our hub in a one bedroom apartment off Concourse Park.

Church service is on Sundays at 11:00 am.

One of the things Rev. Brian Ellison said in his sermon we watched, Sunday, 1/31/2021, is that we have the freedom not to settle for obnoxious peace.

Next Sunday, 2/7, Rev. Ellen Marquardt will be supplying our virtual pulpit. To request an invitation, e-mail [email protected].

I was a little tickled, last Sunday, and again, today, when I was re-reading the notes I took on Rev. Peter Sanders' sermon. He talked about Jesus doing his first exorcism! Other than that, Peter said, "People are called to change hearts and lives," and "Thankfully, Christ doesn't pout," and "God doesn't give up on us." I love it when I am blessed, re-reading sermon notes!

Tomorrow, Rev. Brian Ellison will bring us the sermon, via video. To request an invitation to our Zoom church service, e-mail [email protected].

I liked the African proverb in today's (1/17/2021) message, "Until lions have their historian, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter." Elder Shirley Heard and her family and friend talked about people of color. One thing Shirley said that she thinks about is, "What would it be like to wake up one day, and not be judged, before I even open my mouth?" We also learned about people of color's contribution to the medical community.

Next Sunday (1/24/2021), Rev. Peter Sanders will bring the message from Vancouver, BC, over Zoom. If you would like to join us, e-mail [email protected] for an invitation to our Zoom services.

Our candidate, Lauren Sanders, preached, last Sunday, 1/10/2021. She repeated, several times, a quote from Dr. Ray Aldred: "Some truths are so big, they can only be told in stories."

Tomorrow, 1/17, Shirley Heard and her family will be bringing the message.

01/09/2021

Rev. Ellen Marquardt read a poem by George Pasley that began, "Peace, be still." I think that is an apropos quote, right now.

Our Candidate, Lauren Sanders, will be preaching, Sunday. To join us, e-mail [email protected] for a Zoom invitation.

Last Sunday, one of the things Rev. Peter Sanders said was to live each day like the baby who was born challenges injustice and oppression. Care for each child as if it is that Child.

Tomorrow, Rev. Ellen Marquardt's sermon is "The Light that Shines in Darkness". To join our Zoom church, e-mail [email protected] for an invitation.

12/19/2020

On 12/6, one thing the Rev. Ellen Marquardt said is, "He will speak peace to his people.... It is ours to claim and to share with others" She asked, "What do we want to accomplish?"

On 12/12, at our Visioning, we affirmed that "This people in this place" is what we want to be.

On 12/13, Candidate Lauren Sanders talked about Isaiah 61:1-4 & 8-11. She said to read between the lines. One thing she said was to provide for those who mourn and to spread joy.

Tomorrow the choir is singing a cantata, "Rejoice the King Has Come". To receive a Zoom invitation, e-mail [email protected] .

12/06/2020

Last Sunday we fed our souls with Christmas carols, and Elder Elaine Joslyn had a meditation on Advent. Tomorrow, Rev. Ellen Marquardt will lead the service, which includes a Congregational Meeting. A few votes but mostly we celebrate what the church has done! Ellen's reflection will be, "Peace to God's People".

11/23/2020

It was really satisfying, today, to have a hymn sing. We ended with, "How Can I Keep from Singing!", very apropos for the service! Next Sunday we will sing Christmas carols for the service, since it is the first Sunday of Advent. Elder Elaine Joslyn will give a meditation.
There will be communion, so be sure to have available bread and juice or wine. Since our AV coordinator will not be available, Sunday, e-mail [email protected] to receive an invitation to Zoom church.

11/21/2020

Last Sunday, Rev. Peter Sanders said in his sermon, "Hold on, in spite of everything." I thought those were timely words!

Tomorrow, we will have a hymn sing. To receive an invitation to our services, e-mail [email protected].
