Parents,
I am so excited for this upcoming school year and what we will be covering in youth this year! Youth begins back on Wednesday nights on September 4th, 2024 @ 6:30pm.
Your students study through two different topics on alternating weeks. On one week, we work through the New City Catechism (newcitycatechism.com) and we will be starting this school year on Question 33. It asks, “Should those who have faith in Christ seek their salvation through their own works, or anywhere else?” The answer is a simple no! We seek only Christ.
On the alternate weeks, we work our way through the big stories of the Bible. We finished the last school year covering some of the Prophets such as the story of Jonah and will begin this year looking at some more. We don’t just cover the basics of the Bible but go straight to the Word and see how much more in Scripture there is than we know and how that changes our life.
I want to make you aware of several activities and events we have coming up this fall. First, we have an escape room night on August 25. We will meet at the church and take a trip to try to complete an escape room together! This will be a blast and will only cost students $20. Payment and registration is due by August 18th.
On October 18-19 we will be participating in the Fusion Youth Weekend at Spurgeon College and Midwestern Seminary. This is an overnight stay at the Seminary where the students get thrown into a simulation of what it is like living overseas and doing mission work. This is an incredibly special weekend that’s full of fun and an amazing growing time for your students. The cost is $40 and registration is due October 1st.
Alongside these, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for Night @ the Nix’s. These are events where the student come over to my wife and I’s home and have a night of games, food, and Bible study. This is a core part of our ministry and are evening that your students don’t want to miss!
On top of all of these, my hope and goal is to come alongside you and help you disciple your family better. You and your faith will have the biggest impact on your children and therefore your example is crucial. I would love to chat with you more on what that looks like and I am available any time.
In Christ,
Pastor Ryan Nix
