Ten lepers cried out to Christ for healing. All ten were made clean. But only one, a Samaritan, an outsider, came back to give thanks.

Pray to God for us, Saint Madrije.☦️🙏

Saint Mardarije of Libertyville (1889–1935)
Saint Mardarije, the first Serbian bishop in America and Canada, is one of the most important figures of the Serbian diaspora in the New World. He was born in Podgorica as Marko Uskoković, and from an early age he showed deep faith, meekness, and a desire for the spiritual life. He was tonsured a monk in the Monastery of Rakovica and soon became known for his humility and genuine pastoral love.
Mission in America
With the blessing of the Serbian Church, he was sent to the United States to organize the life of Serbian immigrant communities, which at that time were scattered and without unity. He tirelessly traveled throughout America and Canada, serving, teaching, gathering the people, and strengthening them in their faith and identity.
Saint Sava Monastery in Libertyville
His greatest accomplishment was the founding of the Saint Sava Monastery in Libertyville (Chicago), the first Serbian monastery in America. The monastery became the spiritual center of the entire diaspora — a place of prayer, gathering, education, and preservation of the Orthodox faith.
Suffering and Holiness
Bishop Mardarije suffered from a severe lung illness, yet he never allowed it to hinder his service to the people. He reposed in 1935 at only 46 years of age. The love and respect of the faithful continued for generations, and in 2015 the Church officially recognized his sanctity, glorifying him as Saint Mardarije of Lješanska Nahija and Libertyville.
Significance
Saint Mardarije remains an example of humility, sacrifice, and love for God and his people. His life bears witness that a true shepherd serves to the very end — both in joy and in suffering.

The land of a rich man produces more than he can store. His problem isn’t inadequate planning; it’s pronouns.

In Sunday’s homily, Father Turbo sets Saint Paul’s call to “walk worthy of the calling you have received” (Ephesians 4:1) beside Christ’s parable of the man who can only say, “I… my… my barns… my goods.”

Paul counts seven “ones”: one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all. This is shared vocation's grammar, a life received rather than self-invented.

What's the oil of obedience? It's what separates the wise virgins from the foolish. It's what kept the Holy Nuns of Shamordino faithful through torture and death. It's the one thing the devil will never do.

Five virgins were pure. Five were foolish. All were virgins, but only five had oil. Only five were wise. The difference? Obedience.

Grace doesn’t come when you’re strong; it comes when you’re finished.
When the woman touched Christ, power flowed out from Him because her faith was desperate.
Don’t give up. Get hungry.
Luke 8:41–56 | Eph 2:4–10

Not all obedience is holy.

Christ calls us to follow Him. Not blindly, but with discernment formed by love. The Pharisees demanded submission to their power; the saints obeyed because they loved the Truth.

Father Turbo reminds us that holy obedience always bears the light of Christ.

Father Turbo reminds us: you can have every doctrine correct and still be condemned. The rich man in Hades had perfect theology: he knew Abraham, Moses, and the prophets.
His theology passed. His heart failed.

St. John Chrysostom warns us: the rich man had proper belief, but he lived heartlessly.
He wasn’t condemned for wrong doctrine or pagan worship; he was condemned for having no heart.

Lazarus lay at his gate every single day, “covered with sores, longing to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table” (Luke 16:20-21).

The rich man walked past him.
Every day.
Unmoved.

Everyone can love you when you’re beautiful.
But... who is going to love you when you’re broken?

In Sunday's homily, Father Turbo unpacks the mysterious paradox of divine strength appearing in your weakness.

It’s not the power that attracts God; it’s the wound.
The world says fix yourself. Christ says, let Me fill the cracks.

Your thorn isn’t your curse.
It’s your calling card.
The place where Heaven’s light leaks through.

Because grace doesn’t avoid the cracks.
Grace bleeds and permeates through them.

Everyone can love you when you’re beautiful.But... who is going to love you when you’re broken? In today's homily, Father Turbo unpacks the mysterious parado...
