Jacob's Well Church

Jacob's Well Church We are a community of people following Jesus and learning to live in his ways. Our name reflects our dream and our mission.

We are joined together around a dream and a call to build a community in midtown Kansas City with Jesus Christ at the center. Our desire is that we would be an authentic, biblical community where people experience and express the reality of God’s love in the way of Jesus. In the New Testament book of John, Jesus encounters a woman who is at the fringes of her culture, a woman with great hunger and

great need. Jesus reaches out to her and invites her into his life and kingdom. In so doing she becomes a part of a new community. In the same way, Jacob’s Well is striving to be a place — like the biblical Jacob’s Well — where people who are searching can encounter God and find a place in his kingdom and community and join him in his work in the world.

Join us during and after both of our worship gatherings on April 19th as we celebrate Tim Keel’s 26 years of pastoral ministry as the Founding and Senior Pastor of Jacob’s Well!

This gathering will honor Tim’s decades of faithful leadership while also marking an important transition in the life of our church. Tim will be stepping into a new role as Teaching Pastor and will serve as Director of the School of Friendship and Formation, continuing to preach and teach within our community. We hope you will join us in giving thanks for Tim’s ministry and looking ahead to this new season at Jacob’s Well.

Please plan to join us for the installation of Jessi Marcus as Senior Pastor on Sunday, February 15th at 5:00pm. This is a meaningful milestone in the life of our church, and we hope every member of our church family will be a part of it. The ceremony will take place in the Sanctuary, with a reception to follow.

Due to staffing challenges and our desire to ensure our full staff can attend the service, we will be unable to offer child care for this event. Parents of children ages birth–5 are welcome to bring their children, and TVs will be set up in the younger kids’ classrooms so you can watch the service in a kid-friendly space.

The event will be live-streamed on YouTube.

Due to the winter weather warning and the potential for additional snowfall, hazardous road conditions, and dangerously cold temperatures in the morning, we have made the decision to cancel in-person worship tomorrow, Sunday, January 25. We want to ensure our congregation, volunteers, and staff are not put in harm’s way traveling to and from the building.

Even so, Sunday is still our day for Sabbath and worship. We are currently in a series titled “The Way”. If you’ve missed any of the worship gatherings, this is a meaningful opportunity to go back and listen to the sermons from the series so far. You will also find a video devotional for this Sunday that connects with the series and includes a guided time of prayer linked below. We encourage you to practice a day of Sabbath rest wherever you are!
