Our hearts are heavy tonight for our neighbors at William Jewell College and the entire Liberty community following the sudden passing of MicahJo Barnett.

We are praying for MicahJo’s family, his teammates and coaches, his friends and classmates, and everyone whose heart is hurting tonight.

There are moments when words simply aren’t enough. In those moments, we cling to the promise that God draws near to the brokenhearted.

“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

On his death bed while struggling with memory loss John Newton the writer of Amazing Grace reflected on his life with these words. "My memory is nearly gone, but I remember two things: that I am a great sinner, and that Christ is a great Savior".
I pray we all can look back on our life and know that no matter what we did, Christ is a great savior and he died to take away our sins.

Question: When you were in high school how did you spend the last Friday night of summer? Well earlier this summer we had a group of students reach out about wanting to start a praise band and see how we could partner with them. Tonight those young people held a concert for their friends and family. We are so thankful to be a part of it.
Be on the look out. Prayerfully this isn’t a one time thing.
