We have been inviting children to experience worship from a “prayground” near the front of the sanctuary. Our hope in giving them a space where they can explore worship in their own kid kind of way is that they can experience God in a real way.

Rainbow Mennonite Church in Kansas City is searching for a full-time lead pastor. We are a high-participation, welcoming and growing, urban congregation with about 135 resident members drawn from across a thriving metro area of 2.2 million. We embrace historic peace-church and Anabaptist traditions as we relate the call of Jesus to contemporary issues of justice and peace and enact God’s shalom.

A note from Ruth:
For close to 11 years, I have sought to hold the prayers, worries, dreams, and hopes of this congregation in the light of God. These prayers, at least the ones written on these colorful slips of paper back in 2013, have traveled with me/us for over a decade. At one point, I taped them together and rolled them up like a scroll, only to unroll them again at various times. Now it is time for us all to create new scrolls of prayers, worries, dreams, and hopes. This coming month, as I savor the new round of colorful messages being assembled, I plan to make these 2013 prayers into origami cranes. Likewise, I trust and pray that God's light will continue to shine on this beautiful place. And for those who don't know, May 4 will be my final Sunday as Rainbow pastor. I leave with a full and grateful heart.
