Gathering Table ministry to restart as "Oasis on the Boulevard."

At the end of June Gathering Table was made aware that Church Mutual, the synod’s insurance company, was dropping coverage on the building that has housed Gathering Table and its ministry.

In light of these circumstances the decision has been made to sell the building and temporarily suspend the ministry of Gathering Table while we work to reimagine a ministry that can effectively join in what God is doing among the people of the Independence Avenue corridor.

We will be bringing a new ministry plan to the synod council at the end of October for approval and authorization. We ask for your prayers and support as we rise to the challenge and build our new ministry.

IMPORTANT NEWS

Gathering Table ministry is experiencing a temporary "time out." The Children's Memorial Lutheran Church building is no longer available. A dedicated group of folks are determining the future and location of the ministry of Gathering Table.

Please keep this discernment group, Pastor Ann, and friends of Gathering Table in your prayers. We hope to bring you updates in the near future.

Our heartfelt thanks go to all the congregations and volunteers who have so faithfully served and made the ministry a blessing to Northeast Kansas City, providing worship, meals, clothing, and hope to the underprivileged. God bless you all!

Today is Memorial Day. Let us pray: Almighty God, you are our strength and our shield. We give you thanks for the members of our armed forces past and present, and especially for those who have died while serving. May their sacrifices serve the cause of peace, and may our nation be ever grateful for their service. With your wisdom and strength guide our military’s leaders and give to all people a desire for justice and peace. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. (Prayer for Memorial Day, Sundays and Seasons)
