If you have even a hint of OCD tendencies, then things out of place bother you immensely. For the Apostle Paul, that is exactly how he characterized the behaviors of Believers. There are some things that should make you tilt your head and squint your eyes because they just look out of place in the life of a Christ-follower. This wasn't about rule following, but rather about identity cohesion. Who you are determines what you do, therefore what you do reveals who you are. So today, we will work to pragmatically ask and answer the question: who are you?

Parents are, by a large percentage, the most influential people in the lives of their children. Not only do children usually look like their parents, but their mannerisms and dialect will mimic those of the house they grew up in as well. When we begin a relationship with God we become his children. So, at the onset of Chapter 5 in Ephesians Paul issues a directive that, logically, just makes a lot of sense. Act like your Father and speak like your Father because that is what children do. We'll work to help you learn how today at 10:30! http://bible.com/events/49657925

When someone becomes a parent, the concept of someone else’s suffering having a very real impact of causing you to suffer becomes a vivid reality. Parents suffer when their children are in pain, anxious, and struggling. They also suffer when someone else is rude, inconsiderate, or mean to their children. At the conclusion of chapter 4 in Ephesians, Paul tells Christians that how we behave toward one another has a very real impact on God in us. He grieves, and we have the capacity to not let that be so. We’ll talk more about that today.

It is rarely enough to describe how things should be for that reality to become actualized. Instead, what must accompany the idea of a preferred future is why it should be, and what things should change for it to be. That is exactly how the Apostle Paul taught Christian unity. It tells us that it should be a thing, but the "should be" without the how perhaps would have been ineffective. So, at the close of chapter 4 and the beginning of chapter 5 in Ephesians, Paul spells out the "how." That is what we'll unpack together today. http://bible.com/events/49651632

Imagery as illustration is one of the Bible's most effective teaching tools. The Apostle Paul imagined our identity as something we wear, and then taught us the "fashion of Christ" in Chapter 4 of Ephesians. Today, we'll look at what we should be "wearing" as followers of Jesus. http://bible.com/events/49648503

We talk all of the time of using verses from the Bible in context. Context matters so much because without it verses can be misused, truths misunderstood, and well-meaning sentiments mistaken. Tucked away in chapter 4 of Ephesians is a little phrase that has often been misapplied by well-meaning Christians. Today, we'll tweak that understanding just a little so that we have a proper framing of what it really means. Then the application of its true context gives us a really practical next step. It's going to be a great day, we'd love to see you join us.
