Kannapolis Church of God

Kannapolis Church of God We exist so that all people will encounter God, experience community, and explore their purpose.

The Kannapolis Church of God, birthed in a house in Kannapolis almost 100 years ago, has a rich heritage of purposeful prayer, uninhibited worship, and impacting our community for Christ. Our history is inextricably linked to the history of the City of Kannapolis. From the early days of prayer meetings in mill villages and evangelizing the lost on Gambler's Rock to today, the Kannapolis Church of God is passionate about and committed to loving God, loving one another, and loving souls.

This past weekend was honestly such an emotional and powerful weekend.

23 years of ministry is hard to even put into words. The legacy Pastor Greg leaves isn’t just a few sermons, memories, or things he accomplished. He has personally taught me, encouraged me, pushed me, believed in me, and made a serious impact on my life. And I know I’m not the only one who can say that.

As we send Pastor Greg back out into the mission field where God has called him, obviously it’s emotional. It’s hard watching a season that has meant so much to us come to an end.

But then Sunday, in his final message, he preached something that seriously should have convicted us.

We’ve gotten way too comfortable.

And I think that’s something all of us need to remember.

The knowledge we have of the Gospel shouldn’t make us comfortable. It should make us uncomfortable knowing that literally every day we walk past people who need Jesus.

Jesus isn’t just something we get on Sunday morning and whisper about the rest of the week. We can’t just show up, sit in the same pew, worship, hear a message, go home and do it all again next week without ever having a real burden for the people around us.

There are people all over the world who would give anything just to hear the Gospel, and yet we have opportunities every single day to share it.

That hit me hard Sunday.

I don’t want church to ever just become a routine for me. I want a real burden for people. And I think that’s exactly what we should take from Pastor Greg’s final message.

Talk to the person you normally walk past. Invite somebody to church. Tell somebody what Jesus has done in your life. Don’t assume somebody else will do it.

And as emotional as this weekend was, we’re just getting started.

There are still so many people in this town who need Jesus. Let’s join what God is doing here. Bring your friends, your family, your coworkers, whoever. You seriously never know what the Lord can do in someone’s life through one simple invitation.

Let’s make a difference in this town.
Let’s be part of the revival instead of just watching it happen.

Don’t get comfortable.
Don’t just sit in the pew.
Don’t just whisper His name.

SHOUT JESUS.

Come celebrate Pastor Greg with us this Sunday as he preaches his final sermon at Kannapolis Church of God after 23 years of faithful ministry. ❤️

For 23 years, Pastor Greg Sloop has poured his heart into this church, and personally, I can say his ministry has made an impact on my life that I’ll carry with me forever.

He’s taught me, encouraged me, pushed me to be better, and believed in me in ways I probably don’t even fully realize yet. And I know I’m not the only one. So many of us have a story that Pastor Greg is a part of, and that’s what makes the legacy he’s leaving here so special.

This Sunday, he’ll preach his final sermon as our pastor before stepping into the next season God has called him to.

I hope you’ll come join us as we celebrate 23 years of faithfulness, ministry, memories, and lives changed. Let’s pack the house and show Pastor Greg just how much he and his ministry have meant to all of us.

A chapter may be closing, but the legacy doesn’t end here. ❤️
