October 18th will be a big day in the life of my church, Bethpage Presbyterian, Kannapolis, NC!
We have a special service.
We have an important visitor.
We have a covered dish with an informal reception following the service.
Preparations are already underway around the campus, and within ministry areas, as we look forward to a visit from the new General Presbyter of the Presbytery of Charlotte. Installed in August, Rev. Steven Werth and his wife moved to the Charlotte area from southwest Pennsylvania. In his bio, Steven writes “I really love God, and I really love people. And I truly believe that congregations who love God and love their neighbors can change their communities for the better.” He will deliver the message October 18th in worship. Steven also wants to stay around afterwards so we can all visit with him. It is rare that we get an exclusive visit like this, so please join everyone in the fellowship hall immediately following the service for a covered dish meal.
As always, all are asked to prepare a dish (or dessert) which is enough to feed their family and a few other people, in order to accommodate possible visitors. Please label your dish if it includes nuts, or nut-based oils, as we need to be considerate of those with allergies.
Dishes can be dropped off in the fellowship hall starting at 9:00 AM, and folks from the Congregational Care team will be there to help. All are encouraged to attend this meal and get to know our new General Presbyter! Looking forward to fellow-shipping with everyone!
