Six times the author calls her Ruth the Moabitess.

Six times he reminds you she should not be in this story. The law said no. The assembly said no. Ten generations of exclusion said no.

And then a man named In Him Is Strength walks to the gate at dawn. Gathers ten elders. And puts her name — Ruth the Moabitess — into the legal record of Bethlehem in front of everyone.

This Sunday we finish the book of Ruth. The unnamed kinsman steps back. Boaz steps forward. The genealogy lands on one name. And Jesus stands at a gate and says something the law could never say.

Yesterday, Randall Worley brought a message that's going to sit with you for a while: "Maturing Through Misunderstanding."
He took us to Matthew 13 — the moment Jesus goes home to Nazareth, and the people who watched Him grow up can't get past who they think He is. "Isn't this the carpenter's son?" And because of it, Scripture says He didn't do many miracles there.
Familiarity can blind us. And so can pain in our relationships — especially when it's easier to see someone else's faults than to face our own.
If you've ever been misunderstood by people who should know you best, or if you've been the one doing the misunderstanding — this one's for you.

As our nation celebrates 250 years, we're grateful for this beautiful country, for the freedoms we enjoy, and for the men and women whose service and sacrifice have helped make them possible.

As we celebrate with family, friends, and neighbors, may we be people who bring peace, extend kindness, and reflect the goodness of God wherever we are.
