"In the Bible, submission means a voluntary choice to yield, respect, and place oneself under God-given authority out of humility and love.
Used in the New Testament, this military term means "to arrange or place under in an orderly way."
In every industry, there is a hierarchy; there are roles that we all must play (on our jobs, in our churches and communities, military, sports teams, and most definitely, our homes).
God, who is a God of order (1 Corinthians 14:33) puts authority figures in place for a reason. When there is disorder, disobedience, and rebellion, chaos occurs. Out of obedience to God, you must obey and submit to authority figures that He puts in place (husbands, bosses, pastors, military officer, teacher/coach parents, etc.) unless they are telling you to sin.
Employees can't go on a job refusing to listen to their employers or they will be fired.
Privates can't disrespect or unsubmit to military officers or there will be consequences.
Athletes/students can't disrespect coaches/teachers.
Children are suppose to obey parents.
Believers are suppose to submit to governing authorities (Romans 13:1-7).
Church congregants are suppose to submit to their Pastors.
Christians are suppose to submit to God, our Father. Jesus Christ is the groom, we are His bride as Christians.
In the same way, earthly marriages are a symbolism of Christians' relationship with Christ.
Husbands are the groom and wives are the bride; therefore, wives are meant to submit to their husbands in everything. And husbands are supposed to submit to God.
