Here's a recent article in the Salt Lake Trib on the Roadless Rules. Over 4 million acres, or 49%, of Utah’s national forest lands are classified as roadless areas, and thus are "protected" and inaccessible for off road recreation, hunting, fire management, etc. Comments about the proposed rescinding of the roadless rules is due by September 21st. Follow the link inside the article to make your comment. This is a national rule, so for those of us in Southern Utah we frequent the North Kaibab National Forest in Arizona. Make your comments specific to the National Forest that of your choice, including how those forests have been impacted by the inability to access those areas (fires, views, hunting, ranching, etc.)
The Trump administration is one step closer to repealing the 2001 Roadless Rule and opening nearly 4 million acres of Utah’s national forest lands to road construction and logging.
