We are excited to announce a meal train has been set up for Mason and Alexis Yoder as they welcome Mason Daniel to their family. He was born Tuesday, April 28th. We are so happy for the new addition to their family and want to help them out the next couple of weeks with meals. Dates are available on the mealtrain link for you to sign up!

If you cannot make them a meal, some suggestions would be:
*Ordering take out from a local restaurant & delivering it
*Ordering a frozen dish from Best of Iowa
*Giving giftcards for them to use as they choose

Easter Sunday!
It just might be our favorite day of the year. Every year we’re blown away by our community. A full building (and parking lot) are only a small reminder who we serve and why.
“It is done, it is finished
No more debt I owe
Paid in full all sufficient merit
Merit now my own”

Resurrection Sunday!

This is the day we have longed for since Genesis 3. The introduction to death has made us long for the defeat of death.

Now we are here:

The tomb is empty!

Death is defeated!

Jesus is alive!

We have hope!

Because of the cross, we have been set free from sin’s penalty.

Because of the empty tomb we are being made free of sin’s power.

Because of the Resurrection we will be free of sin’s presence.

“Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
(I Corinthians 15:55)

Scripture only notes two things about the Saturday of Holy Week.

1. The disciples rested because it was the Jewish sabbath. (Luke 23:56b)

2. Pilate sealed the tomb and put guards in front of it, at the request of the religious leaders. (Matthew 27:62-66)

It safe to say that Saturday wasn't an ordinary sabbath for the disciples. They were grieving.

Grief is where love, loss, regret, sadness, anger, and memories collide. We just use one word to describe the mixture of thoughts and emotions: "grief".

Grief hurts. Grief reminds us of our helplessness. If we could just restore what or whom we lost it would instantly feel better. But we can't.

The guards at the tomb were there because of those who feared that this might not be the end of Jesus.

The disciples grieved in silence, fearful that this was the end of Jesus.

Death is so final. Death marks unwelcomed endings. If only there was a Power greater than death.

If only......

What could be good about a day with so much pain, evil, and death? Wouldn't it be more accurate to refer to this day as Dark Friday?

In those times when we experience pain, evil, and death we wrestle with God's goodness. Pain raises uncomfortable doubts about the nature of God like nothing else does.

Is He watching?
Could He stop it?
Is He good?
Does He care?

The answer lies in an eternal purpose that ran far deeper than the visible evil on display that day. I Peter 2:24 teaches us that our healing was actually secured for us at the cross.

It's the cross where we actually see the goodness of God in it's full expression. It's because He is good that He sent His only Son to suffer and die in our place. He took our penalty on Himself so that we could escape the penalty of our sin! We deserve death and separation forever, but instead we are offered life forever!

We can not honestly approach the cross and accuse God of apathy to our pain and suffering. How can we not see His goodness in His suffering?

Go to the cross today. Go and see the broken body, the bleeding flesh, the mocking and humiliation. Feel the pain and sadness in that scene. But don't miss the love in His eyes.

Love that is motivated by true Goodness.

This is where Good triumphed over evil and that makes this a Good Friday!
