In pastoring a smaller church for the past 15 years one thing I have noticed in looking at church dynamics and how to grow I have learned several things.
The number one thing I have heard over and over is that when people come to visit the church they mentally have a list of things they want to see that meet their needs, and if those do not exist they will keep looking.
I get that and understand that we all want to be well fed for our spiritual growth and our families as well. But this concept does leave out many smaller churches from growth.
One thing I do not hear very often is I see this church has some ministry needs, is God sending me here to serve.
If we cherry pick when and where we serve because the church is well supplied and easy what then for those churches that cannot provide the easy.
I am not saying this is the only reason it is just one of the main ones I have observed.
I often have out of the box ideas like what if one of the larger churches in the area sent 10 of there families to attend the smaller church one Sunday to encourage them, to bless them with a strong tithe, and to know other believers in the area. I am not promoting people leaving the larger church I am talking about non believers seeing the churches working in unity loving one another.
