Saturday May 9th at People’s:

Rain Garden Work Day!: Start time: 9:30am
Are you ready to help bring the rain garden out of its winter slump?
We’ll spend some energy taking down the dead stalks, cleaning up the leaves, pine needles and other debris that has accumulated over the past 6 months. Our “rock river” has a spontaneous dam of pine needles, and the whole area needs a good w**d.

Balm for the Soul: 10a-3p
We will go through the slow, steady, meditative process of melting pine resin into oils, infusing it with other healing plants, adding beeswax, and pouring and labeling salve tins. This process is spacious and folks are invited to come and go as they please. Helpers present at the end will be invited to take a salve home!

Second Saturday Potluck!: At Noon
Come join a few People’s people for lunch and conversation. Bring a dish to share. This meal is open to everyone!

Sunday Service, April 12th: “We Are Good Neighbors” — Rev. Rachel Lonberg
At a recent gathering of interfaith clergy in Kalamazoo, an idea emerged. What if the message that can inspire the work of love and justice in this moment is as simple as ‘We are good neighbors?’ This simple commitment to care for those nearby is a vital way to live our values in this moment.
In honor of Mr. Rogers, who taught many to be good neighbors, everyone is encouraged to wear a cardigan sweater to the service today.

Sunday Service, April 5th: “To Be Continued: An Easter Service” — Rev. Rachel Lonberg
On Easter, we celebrate that stories don’t always end when we think they do. Sometimes, the tomb is empty. Sometimes, resurrections happen. In this service we will explore how we might practice resurrection and we will celebrate the unlikely resurrections as we tell and re-tell stories of Jesus, spring, and a woman named Gussie who always dressed up for church. This Sunday’s sermon is a re-working of a sermon originally preached at People’s Church in March 2016.

This Sunday will include a shelter-in-place drill for all in-person attendees.

In early April, members of the stewardship team will begin reaching out to people we haven’t heard from. Nobody likes this part of the work, so please return your pledge materials or let us know you don’t intend to pledge so we don’t have to bother you.
You can return your pledge form to the church by mail or in-person or you can complete the online pledge form here: https://forms.gle/ELo2xByW6PFCdyrB6
