Religious Education begins soon!
We are so excited to be kicking off another year in religious education at People’s Church! It takes many hands to make this program work! Are you ready?

Classroom clean up/set up: Come help us clean up, organize, and supply classrooms & the supply room. Pizza and childcare provided! Saturday, September 5th, 12-4pm & Thursday, September 10th, 5-8pm

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Trans, Intersex, and Nonbinary people are worthy and beloved, every single day. There is nothing that the Supreme Court can do to change that.
And this (yet another) moment when the world calls us to be courageous in support of our values.

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court issued decisions in Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J., upholding laws in Idaho and West Virginia that restrict transgender student athletes from participating on school sports teams that align with their gender identities.

The UUA decries these decisions and remains steadfast in affirming the inherent worthiness and dignity of transgender, nonbinary, and intersex people. We will continue advocating for a world where every person can live authentically and belong fully.

White Elephant Sale Drop Off Schedule
Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-7 and Sundays from 12-2 starting June 11th - June 25th

Items must be in gently loved or like-new condition! If you’re wondering whether an item is in the right condition to donate, ask yourself “would I give this to a friend?” If yes, we’d love to add it to our White Elephant sale! We regret not being able to accept clothing, exercise equipment, electronics like TVs and computers, or furniture larger than what will fit in your car.

The team is looking forward to accepting: Toys and games - complete without missing pieces, Small household appliances, lamps, etc. that are clean and in verified working condition, Furniture … if it can fit in your car, Books, Household decor, including holiday decorations, Kitchen items, Jewelry, Purses & tote bags, Small personal fitness items such as hand weights and bike racks

Sunday Service, June 7th: “Pride Service” — Rev. Rachel Lonberg and People’s People
On the weekend of the Kalamazoo Pride festival, we will bring the party celebrating LGBTQIA+ folks to church, with joy, music, and blessings. If you are a LGBTQIA+ People’s person and would like to participate in ritual leadership (there are both speaking and non-speaking ways to lead), please reach out to Rev. Rachel. We would love to have you help lead this service.

Sunday May 17: Annual Congregational Meeting
(and Potluck!)
Bring a dish to share and do the work of our democracy!
Potluck immediately following the service, congregational meeting begins at 12:45 on Zoom and in person. Childcare will be provided!

Please note: voting on all items will happen during the two weeks after the congregational meeting, by mail and online.
You do not need to attend the meeting to vote, but you do need to attend (in person or online) to speak about agenda items, offer amendments, or bring forward new business.

Saturday May 9th at People’s:

Rain Garden Work Day!: Start time: 9:30am
Are you ready to help bring the rain garden out of its winter slump?
We’ll spend some energy taking down the dead stalks, cleaning up the leaves, pine needles and other debris that has accumulated over the past 6 months. Our “rock river” has a spontaneous dam of pine needles, and the whole area needs a good w**d.

Balm for the Soul: 10a-3p
We will go through the slow, steady, meditative process of melting pine resin into oils, infusing it with other healing plants, adding beeswax, and pouring and labeling salve tins. This process is spacious and folks are invited to come and go as they please. Helpers present at the end will be invited to take a salve home!

Second Saturday Potluck!: At Noon
Come join a few People’s people for lunch and conversation. Bring a dish to share. This meal is open to everyone!

Sunday Service, May 3rd: “Music Service"
Come sing a song with us! Join a variety of People's musicians this Sunday for our annual celebration of the aural arts.

This Sunday at the end of service, there will be a fire drill, evacuating the building.

We are excited for our 2025 Champs Celebration this Wednesday!
