The council of Christ URC wishes to inform the federation that we have extended a call to Rev. Matthew Crawford to be an associate minister of our church for the particular task of ministering as a chaplain in the United States Navy.

Rev. Crawford was declared eligible to receive a call by Classis Southwest U.S. under the provisions of Church Order, Article 8 "Calling a Minister from Outside the Federation." Rev. Crawford is currently ministering as a Navy chaplain attached to U.S. Marine Corps units in Camp Pendleton. Should he accept this call, as we expect that he will, this will allow him to switch endorsers to the PRCC and minister as a chaplain according to our Reformed convictions. Please continue to keep him, his family, and this important ministry in your prayers.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. William C. Godfrey
for the Council of Christ URC (Santee, CA)

As we move closer to the present day, we have the privilege of looking back at the 2005 Summer Convention.
The theme, “Show Me Your Faith,” based on 1 Timothy 4:12, challenged young people to pursue radical holiness in a world of moral confusion and fading dreams. Rev. Phil Grotenhuis and Mr. Rip Pratt served as the main speakers.
That year, more than 480 young people, sponsors, and staff attended, representing 38 churches.
For the day away, attendees could choose between Silver Dollar City, where thrill-seekers could experience rides like WildFire with its 15-story drop, or the newer Powder Keg, or Lost River of the Ozarks, featuring attractions such as the American Plunge.
Workshops covered a wide range of meaningful topics, including gossip, television, our calling, grace, and the Sabbath.
Did you attend in 2005? What memories stand out most?
