Here are a few of the basic tenets of our faith:

"And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." - 2 Nephi 25:26

"We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say

that we follow the admonition of Paul - We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." - Article of Faith #13

"We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." - Article of Faith #11

"We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." - Article of Faith #12

This week, we are studying David and Goliath. (June 15-21st).

When the giant Goliath threatened Israel, even King Saul and his army were afraid. But David faced the giant with faith in the Lord.

His victory reminds us that our greatest challenges are not overcome by our own strength alone. As David declared, “The battle is the Lord’s.” When we trust God, He can help us face whatever giants stand in our way.

Each year, Primary children around the world participate in a service project to help others.

The children of the Kalamazoo 2nd Ward spent the past month collecting food from their congregation, friends, and neighbors to donate to Twelve Baskets, a local food pantry. Today, they were excited to deliver the donations themselves!

Thank you, Twelve Baskets, for helping our children learn the joy and importance of serving others.

Have you ever wondered whether AI uses religious perspectives when answering questions about faith and belief?

Researchers at Brigham Young University are working with leaders and scholars from other faith traditions to study the relationship between artificial intelligence and religion, including how AI may influence religious understanding and conversations.

Sunday Thought:

We often have a plan for how we'd like life to go. But life brings change, challenges, triumphs, and hardships.

This week, we studied Ruth and Hannah—two women who faced deep sorrow and uncertainty. Yet through it all, they continued to trust in the Lord with patience and faith.

No matter what you may be facing, God can help you find strength and hope.

How can you put your trust in the Lord and let your heart rejoice in Him this week? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

If you're like me, summertime with all the kids home can be a big—and sometimes overwhelming—change! I'm finding peace and clarity as I turn to Jesus Christ each day.

Sundays are a wonderful opportunity to reset, recharge, and prepare for the week ahead. In the words of a favorite new hymn, "I will walk with Jesus, and He will walk with me."

Join us on June 7 as we worship and learn more about the Savior.

Last Sunday, the Sturgis Ward had the opportunity to hear from Elder and Sister Dunn, the missionaries overseeing the construction of the Grand Rapids Michigan Temple.

These two college students especially loved learning about the sacred process of building a temple. Did you know the entire temple site is considered holy ground? It’s unlike any other construction site.

They also shared how the temple is being designed with special touches unique to Michigan, including apple blossoms incorporated into the stonework.

Thank you to the many who sacrificed their lives, and the to the families they left behind.

“My stepfather was one of the Navajo Code Talkers during World War II. He helped create the Navajo code used in the Pacific, but he almost never talked about it. A lot of those men stayed quiet about what they went through. They were told to keep it secret for years, and even after people found out about the Code Talkers, many of them still didn’t say much.

“I remember being at an air show in Salt Lake years later and seeing a display about the Code Talkers. I was looking through the names and found my stepfather’s. I called my mom right there and said, ‘I didn’t know he was a Code Talker!’ She just said, ‘Yeah, he never talked about it.’ The Navajo people are proud of that history. That code was never broken, and it helped save a lot of lives during the war.

“Later on, I served in Vietnam myself. Coming home from that war was hard. A lot of veterans carried things they never really spoke about, and for a long time, people didn’t understand what those soldiers had been through.

“Through everything in my life, my faith in Jesus Christ is what’s kept me going. When I was younger, I used to help missionaries on the reservation. Sometimes they’d need help finding homes late at night because there weren’t street signs out there, and I knew the roads. I just loved being around the missionaries and the feeling that came from the gospel.

“There were years that tested our family, too. At one point, I was out of work for 16 months while we were raising four kids. Every day I looked for work, and every night I prayed. We got by however we could. Somehow our family kept making it through. Looking back now, I can see the Lord’s hand in all of it.

“That’s why my testimony means so much to me. I’ve seen hard things, but I’ve also seen how Jesus Christ gives people peace and strength to keep going. I really believe He’s the answer to a lot of the pain people feel in the world right now. He’s carried me through every stage of my life.” —Darel
