Webb is new Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention executive director-treasurer.

From John Endriss: Executive Board President:

Aloha Hawaii Pacific Baptist Ohana and friends,

On behalf of your Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention Executive Board, it is with great joy that I share that your Executive Board voted last night to affirm Dr. Craig Webb as our next executive director-treasurer.

We've included the press release below. Join me in celebrating this good news!

**Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention Welcomes New Executive Director-Treasurer**

[HONOLULU, AUGUST 18, 2023] – The Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention (HPBC) is pleased to announce that its Executive Board voted to affirm Dr. Craig Webb as its next executive director-treasurer on Friday night, August 18, 2023. Dr. Webb has served as the assistant executive director for the past six years and brings vast church and convention experience and a history of humble servant leadership. He and his wife, Barbara, are excited for this next chapter in their service to Hawaii Pacific Baptists.

Webb shared, "I am so honored to serve you. I am profoundly grateful for the confidence that the search committee and the full board have placed in me to provide leadership to the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention in this next season."

At the Executive Board meeting, the HPBC Executive Board thanked the interim executive director-treasurer, Pastor John Endriss, for his six months of service. The HPBC Executive Search Committee chair, Pastor Brian Frable, thanked the Search Committee for their diligent work during this process. Members of the Search Committee included Naomi Ashman, recording secretary, John Endriss, Larry Hale, Paula Higuchi, James Kinosh*ta, and Sterling Lee.

Craig Webb was born on Oahu and spent his first three years in Manoa when his dad, Henry Webb, was the Baptist Student Union (BSU) director. He then spent his elementary years in Kalihi (Island of Oahu), where his dad was the pastor of Kalihi Baptist. They moved to Tennessee when Craig was eleven.

After graduating from Samford University in 1987 (BA) and Southern Seminary in 1991 (MDiv), Craig served as a pastor in Clarksville, Tennessee, from 1991-1994, then was pastor at Lahaina Baptist Church on Maui from 1994-2003.

He worked at Lifeway Christian Resources from 2003-2008, at The Glade Church in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, from 2006 – 2015, and at First Baptist, Mount Juliet, Tennessee, from 2015-2017. Craig received his Doctor of Ministry (DMin) in 2010 from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Craig and Barbara have three grown children and two grandsons.

Maui Fires - Hawaii Pacific Baptist Disaster Relief Update:

Please continue to pray. Please pray together as a church family in your worship services.

John and Gay Williams, your Hawaii Pacific Baptist Disaster Relief co-directors, have represented Hawaii Pacific Baptists on Maui since early Friday morning.

Here is the information they want you to know.

#1 - Kahului Baptist Church in Central Maui (Pastor Jay Haynes) is doing a fantastic job distributing supplies from their location. Besides distributing essential items and care from the church building, Jay Haynes and Rocky Komatsu (Waiehu Community Church) have persons who have made flatbed trucks available and have been able to take supplies to the Lahaina side and distribute them.

Other Maui County Baptist Churches are also involved in the efforts. Pray for these pastors and church leaders.

#2 - John and Gay Williams met with Pastors Ken Tanaka and Yasushi Nemoto from our newest HPBC church, Kahului Union Church in Central Maui.

They are exploring Kahului Union housing Disaster Relief volunteers. The church has some showers in their bathrooms, but we would likely need to ship the HPBC Disaster Relief Shower Trailer from Oahu to Maui to support it. Would you pray for this effort?

#3 - Maui County officials contacted John and Gay Williams yesterday to request that Hawaii Pacific Baptist Disaster Relief support the effort to house first responders and essential workers.

John and Gay have responded to this request and have been assisting. Disaster Relief's Michael Fujimoto of Hawaii Kai Church is now on Maui for the next two weeks. Would you pray for this effort?

Reminder from John and Gay: Please do not send items to Maui unless they have been requested by someone official in Maui. As you can imagine, Maui County is overwhelmed with item donations.

#4 - Our primary way to respond is to pray and give.

You may give to Hawaii Disaster Relief and designate the gift as "Hawaii Fires." You may send a check made out to Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention and send it to 2042 Vancouver Dr., Honolulu, Hawaii 96822. Give online at hpbaptist.net/give

We are thankful for your generous financial gifts. You'll be encouraged to know we have received generous financial support from Send Relief (North American Mission Board) and several sister Baptist State Conventions.

Special note: Just now, John Williams spoke to Pastor Rocky Komatsu, and Rocky asked that we remind all Hawaii Pacific Baptists that "we are going to need to support those suffering for many months to come. This is a long-term event that may take years to recover from."

Please don't forget to pray for our friends in Guam who are still in the early days of Disaster Relief from Typhoon Mawar. Hawaii and Mainland US teams are gearing up to deploy under the leadership of your Hawaii Pacific Baptist Disaster Relief.
