Panama Update
I am so blessed to experience this nation and see first hand what and how God is moving in the region of Boquette. I have been placed here for the last 3 weeks and will be moving out to the island outpost early next week. Here are some of the amazing ministry's I have had a chance to be apart of.
Global Food Providers
So far I've been privilege to be apart of working on missionary farms that provide protein powder that is given away to the local Ngäbe (Nobe) people. This is a powdered maringa plant that has vitamins A B C D E aswell as 80% protein. This is then given away for free to the homeless and the locals. So that it can be added to there rice, this gives them the nutrition they need.
Bible distribution
I have had the chance to also be apart of a bible distribution program where we would approach people in the main city park. We would ask them if they knew of Jesus and if they had a bible they read. This provided amazing opportunity to be able to get to know people and there stories. It would also open up opportunity to pray into specific topics in these people's lives. Our team saw people commit there lives to Jesus and give out around 12 to 15 bibles that day.
Orphanage/shelter ministry
In the small communities of the Boquette region are a lot of broken family dynamics, inside of the camps and property living areas where they work and live. A lot of the time women are classed at the lowest run of the ladder in society, not even being able to walk in front of a man at times. There often is a lot of child and female abuse by there own family members resulting in teenage pregnancy from there own family members. This behavior is so common that when children are removed from the families and placed in orphanages. They continue this behaviour still resulting in teenage pregnancy. Any grants that get passed on from the government are often passed onto staff due to the poor financial situation of the staff.
Answer to this problem.
The only real answer to this problem is Christian organisations that staff and operate shelters and homes for these girls who are victims of these horrible circumstances. I got to see and help first hand some of the shelters for teenage mums and help clear some land for a local American man who has moved here to build another orphanage.
One of the girls on our amazing team got to share there own testimony and teach a small dance class and worship session for the girls. Some of the girls were so impacted in a positive way that they felt like they where "strong too" after our day of ministry to them.
Food distribution
I got to help pioneer with the amazing staff of ywam Boquette was a food distribution to the homeless living on the streets of David (local city).
It was such an eye opening experience to see how hungry the people of the streets were. These men and women are disadvantaged by sickness and illness which results in not being able to work or support themselves.
I myself found a man asleep with a small peice of card board as a pillow I placed the box of food beside him, not wanting to disturb his sleep. As I went back to the van my freinds said it would be best to wake him. So we pulled up the van beside him and called out. He was so hungry that the moment he woke up and saw the food he instantly began shoveling it into his mouth. He never even looked up or noticed there was a van of people there.
Despite there circumstances these men and women were so friendly and open to chat and receive prayer. Some people valued the prayer so much that they would freely give to us what little food and fruit they had to us as a thank you, that is how impacted by the word of God is to them.
We were quite literally walking up to people tearing open trash bags for food and giving them a box of hot food. I even had the opportunity to give one man a bible, he hid that bible so quickly under his card board and was so thankful for it.
Words can not describe the thankfulness in these people's eyes.I have seen God move in the hearts of these people and it has forever changed me. Because I have seen him.
