Today is National Funeral Director and Mortician's Day and Metropolitan Mortuary is proud to serve families for 15 years! Shun Newbern has been licensed for 30 years! Someone describe the profession to be strong enough to tolerate anything and soft enough to understand anyone. We are always glad to receive thank you cards, homemade pies, invitations to family celebrations and unexpected custom gifts. Last week I received a message from a family we served in 2021. The informant was working toward finalizing her uncle's affairs and needed my assistance. Before his passing he made her the executrix and administrator over his estate. She had no idea the number of assets that he had in his estate. Let me remind you to take the time to speak with an asset atty to create a living trust, living will, whichever fits, to protect your assets and provide proper directions. You do not want your assets to go to the State or to an heir that you don't feel they deserve to have a home you worked hard to purchase. Think it over and make a plan soon. No will, no protection.
