In one experiment, a mouse was placed inside a jar filled with rice.

At first, it was thrilled. There was food everywhere. No effort, no stress, no searching, no struggle. To the mouse, it felt like paradise.

Day after day, it ate.

But slowly, the rice level dropped.

And when the rice was gone, the mouse found itself at the bottom of the jar.

That was when it understood the truth: it could no longer get out.

It was trapped.

Dependent.

From that moment on, its survival no longer depended on its own ability to search, move, or provide for itself. It depended entirely on whoever decided to refill the jar — or not.

The mouse had traded freedom for comfort.

And that is how dependence is created.

Not always through force.

Sometimes slowly.

Quietly.

With our own permission.
