Nine Times Out of Ten, This Is Why You’re Waiting

I’ve met thousands of people who believe God can heal, deliver, and provide—but they’re still waiting and praying, and nothing’s happening. I guarantee you that nine times out of ten, it’s because they don’t know about the authority God has given them.

This is one of the most important and foundational things I could ever teach you. Most Christians today are asking God to do things He told them to do.

In James 4:7, it says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” That’s not a suggestion. That’s a command. And notice it says the devil will flee from you—not from God. God and the devil already met—Jesus beat him hands down. The problem is, most Christians don’t act like it. They’re still begging God to do what He’s already equipped them to do.

The Enemy Isn’t Waiting—Why Are You?

You may not want to think about it, but we are in a spiritual war. And if you don’t acknowledge that fact, you’re destined to lose. We have an enemy who’s out to destroy us, and we have to learn to take our authority.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
1 Peter 5:8

Satan is a defeated foe, so the only weapon he has left is deception. He comes against us with unbelief, doubt, and lies. And if you yield to any of those things, you’re the one shutting off the power of God in your life. That’s a strong statement, but look what it says in Ephesians 3:20:
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

It’s Not God Who’s Holding You Back . . . It’s You

Most people quote the first half of Ephesians 3:20 and stop. But it doesn’t end there. What this verse is saying is that God’s power flows in our lives according to the power that works in us—not just according to His ability, but according to what’s operating in us. That means if you don’t have love, faith, or a revelation of your authority working on the inside, then it’s wrong to just say, “Well, God can do anything.” No, He’s tied what He’ll do in your life to what you believe and the authority you take.

A lot of people don’t like that because it puts responsibility on them—and most people would rather say, “Well, God is sovereign and He’s just allowing this.” But that’s not what the Word says. God’s not causing the mess. We have an enemy who’s going around seeking whom he may devour, and we’re the ones God placed here to stop him. The sad truth is, most believers aren’t using their authority.

When Authority Changes Everything

I remember reading about John G. Lake, a powerful healing minister. He saw so many people healed in Spokane, Washington, they actually shut down one of the hospitals. But before that, his life was marked by loss. Several family members died young, and at one point, his sister was near death, barely breathing. In desperation, he cried out to God. And the Lord basically told him, I’ve given you authority—you need to stand up and use it. When he stood in faith and rebuked that sickness, his sister recovered. That revelation changed everything. He realized they had been praying and asking God to move, but they weren’t using the authority He’d already given them.

It’s not our power—it’s God’s. But that power flows through us. And if we’re not using our authority, it’s not on God. It’s on us.
The Authority You’re Not Using
God created physical laws from the very beginning. Take electricity, for instance—we use it every day to heat and cool buildings, run lights, and do all kinds of things. But did you know that Adam and Eve could have used electricity if they had understood those laws? It’s not that God just created electricity a hundred years ago—it’s that we’re just now discovering the laws.
Well, in the same way, there are spiritual laws that have been in place from the beginning. And one of those is the authority God gave us over the devil. If Satan is running wild in your life or in your family, it’s not because God’s allowing it—it’s because you aren’t using the authority He gave you.

Now, I’m not saying that to condemn anyone. It’s no different than people a thousand years ago not using electricity—they just didn’t know it was there. Likewise, there are a lot of sincere believers who love the Lord and are on their way to heaven, but they’re still begging Him to do what He told them to do. We’ve got to learn what He’s given us and use our authority.

What Has God Authorized You to Do?

In Matthew 10:1, it says Jesus gave His disciples power over unclean spirits and to heal all kinds of sickness and disease. But if you also read Luke 9:1, you’ll see He gave them power and authority.

Now, power—dunamis—means miracle-working ability, but authority is the right to use that ability. It’s like a police officer who holds up their hand to stop a semi-truck. They don’t have the strength to stop it, but they have the authority behind them, and that’s enough. That’s what God gave us. We don’t have the power to heal or deliver people on our own—but God has the power, and He gave us the authority to use it.

Jesus didn’t say, “Go, ask Me to heal the sick.” No, He said, You heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead (see Matt. 10:7–8). Just like with preaching the Gospel, God’s not going to do it for us. He doesn’t send angels to preach. Even Cornelius, who was a godly man, had to send for Peter to hear the Gospel (Acts 10). Why? Because God gave people, not angels, the authority to preach. And it’s the same with healing. He’s not going to sovereignly intervene while we sit back passively.

People ask why we don’t see more miracles. The truth is—miracles still happen. I’ve seen people get out of wheelchairs and be raised from the dead. But it’s not automatic. If we don’t take the authority He’s given us, it doesn’t get done.

And I’ll just say this plainly: in my experience, this is the number-one thing that keeps believers from receiving what they’re asking for. They come to God begging, saying, “Lord, I have nothing. I am nothing. Please stretch forth Your hand,” not realizing that God already gave them authority to speak and command what He’s provided.

The One Step Most Christians Never Take

That kind of passivity in the body of Christ is hindering the ministry the Holy Spirit wants to do in people. I want to help you understand your authority and begin to act on it, so I encourage you to get the materials we’re offering on this teaching, The Believer’s Authority. I believe it’ll be a blessing to you and help you learn how to walk in the power and authority that’s already yours.

His Will Is In The Word
May 30
John 17:17 'Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.'

JOHN 17:17

In this prayer, Jesus prayed twice that the Father would keep His disciples from evil. Then He reveals the way that God will accomplish this - through His Word, the holy scriptures. Anyone who desires to live for God, reject the devil, and reject the world's system, must know God's Word.
We must study the scriptures, for they reveal the will of God for our actions and attitudes. To be filled with the knowledge of God's will, we must be filled with God's Word. God's Word is His will! Those who are ignorant of God's Word will be ignorant of God's will.

Knowledge of God's will is foundational in developing Christian conduct and character. There is no way we can fulfill God's will if we don't know what it is. The starting point for any Christian is understanding God's will for his life. How can a person obtain such knowledge? The first step is to desire it. Jeremiah 29:13 says, 'And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.' People ask the Lord for knowledge of His will but don't receive it because they aren't seeking with ALL THEIR HEART. No one who has ever sought the Lord with all his heart has ever been disappointed.

The Holy Spirit is the dispenser of God's wisdom. It is through Him that we know the things God has revealed to us. One of the primary ministries of the Holy Spirit is to reveal God's will to us.
There is no way we can walk worthy of the Lord and please Him if we don't know His will. Furthermore, we can't be fruitful without the knowledge of His will. God has provided all that we need to be successful and victorious in this life. Believe His Word.

THE SACRED WORK OF A MOTHER

“The work of the mother is sacred and important. She should teach her children, from the cradle up, habits of self-denial and self-control. Her time, in a special sense, belongs to her children. But if it is mostly occupied with the follies of this degenerate age, if society, dress, and amusements absorb her attention, her children will fail to be suitably educated.” — CE 176.1

We reflect on a calling that heaven itself honors—the sacred work of a mother. In a world full of distractions, noise, entertainment, and endless pursuits, God still calls mothers to one of the holiest ministries on earth: shaping the hearts of children for eternity.

A mother’s influence is deeper than many realize. Governments may shape laws, teachers may shape minds, but mothers shape souls.

The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6,
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Notice that the verse does not say “push,” “force,” or “control.” It says “train.” Training takes patience, consistency, prayer, sacrifice, and love.

When we hear the word “sacred,” we think of holy things—churches, worship, prayer, Scripture. Yet heaven says the work of a mother is sacred.

Why?

Because motherhood is partnership with God.

When a mother rocks a crying child to sleep, teaches a child to pray, corrects wrong behavior, wipes tears, or explains kindness and honesty, she is doing heaven’s work.

Many mothers feel unnoticed. The world applauds celebrities, influencers, wealthy people, and powerful leaders. But heaven notices the mother who kneels beside her child at bedtime and whispers, “Jesus loves you.”

That work matters.

In the Bible, we see the example of Hannah. She prayed earnestly for a child, and when God gave her Samuel, she dedicated him back to the Lord. Because of a faithful mother, Samuel became a prophet who guided Israel.

We also remember Eunice and Lois, the mother and grandmother of Timothy. Their faith shaped a young man who later became a strong worker for God.

Never underestimate what God can do through one faithful mother.

The quotation says mothers should teach habits of self-denial and self-control “from the cradle up.”

Why begin so early?

Because character is built little by little.

A child is not naturally born patient, disciplined, or kind. These qualities must be taught lovingly and consistently.

We live in a generation where many children are taught the opposite:

* “Do whatever feels good.”
* “You must always get your way.”
* “You deserve everything instantly.”

But God teaches something better.

Jesus Himself practiced self-denial. He left heaven’s glory to save humanity. He taught patience, humility, and obedience.

When a mother teaches a child to share toys, to wait patiently, to say “thank you,” to obey respectfully, and to think of others before self, she is preparing that child not just for school or society—but for heaven.

Self-control is one of the fruits of the Spirit. A child who learns discipline early will be stronger against temptation later in life.

The quotation warns about “the follies of this degenerate age.”

That warning is even more relevant today.

We live in a distracted generation:

* endless scrolling,
* constant entertainment,
* obsession with appearance,
* addiction to social approval,
* busyness without purpose.

There is nothing wrong with dressing neatly, enjoying recreation, or having friendships. But when society, fashion, pleasure, and amusement consume all our attention, children are neglected emotionally and spiritually.

Sometimes children do not need more toys—they need more time.

Sometimes they do not need another gadget—they need another conversation.

A child may forget expensive gifts, but they will remember whether their mother listened to them, prayed with them, and loved them.

The enemy knows this. If he cannot destroy the family openly, he distracts it quietly.

A mother may be physically present but emotionally absent because her attention is captured by the world.

That is why we must ask:

* What occupies our hearts?
* What consumes our time?
* What example are we setting?

Children learn more from what we do than from what we say.

One of the greatest gifts a mother can give is her time.

Children spell love differently than adults. Many children spell love as T-I-M-E.

Jesus Himself made time for children. The disciples once tried to send children away, but Jesus said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me.”

He stopped for them.
He blessed them.
He welcomed them.

Mothers are called to do the same.

The moments may seem small:

* reading Bible stories,
* singing worship songs,
* eating together,
* praying together,
* listening after a difficult day.

But these little moments become eternal memories.

One day children will grow up. The toys will disappear. The noise in the house may fade. But the values planted in childhood can remain forever.

Some mothers listening today may feel exhausted.

You may feel unnoticed.
You may feel like your efforts are not appreciated.
You may feel overwhelmed.

But God sees every sacrifice.

He sees the sleepless nights.
He sees the silent prayers.
He sees the tears no one else notices.

Galatians 6:9 says,
“Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

A mother may never fully know on earth how much influence she has had. But eternity will reveal it.

A prayer whispered over a sleeping child may one day save a soul.

This message is not only for mothers. Families must support and honor them.

A mother should not carry every burden alone. Fathers should encourage, protect, and spiritually lead the home together with the mother.

Children should appreciate their mothers while they still can.

Too often appreciation comes only after mothers are gone.

Today is a good day to say:
“Thank you.”
“I love you.”
“I appreciate your sacrifices.”

The world may not always value motherhood, but heaven does.

The sacred work of a mother is not small work.
It is kingdom work.
It is eternal work.

A mother who teaches self-control, kindness, prayer, obedience, and faithfulness is building more than a home—she is helping build a future for God’s kingdom.

May every mother remember:
Your labor is not in vain.
Your prayers matter.
Your influence matters.
Your love matters.

And may God help every family place Christ at the center of the home.

Recognize The Real Enemy
May 28

Mark 8:33, 'But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.'

Jesus was not implying that Peter and Satan were one-and-the-same, but was referring to the fact that Satan had inspired Peter's statement. This type of metaphor was used elsewhere in scripture such as when God spoke to the serpent in the garden of Eden (Gen. 3:15) as though addressing Satan. The serpent was merely the vehicle of communication Satan used to tempt Adam and Eve, while Peter was the vehicle Satan used to tempt Jesus. Ephesians 6:12 reveals that our warfare isn't with people, but against the spiritual powers who inspire and use people. Jesus recognized that Peter's reaction to His prophecy about His death was motivated by His enemy, Satan, so He went right to the source.

Every Christian is at war. There is a perpetual struggle against Satan and his kingdom from which there are no 'leaves' or 'discharges.' Our enemy goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Pet. 5:8). Those who resist the devil will see him flee (Jas. 4:7).
Some of us believe that anger will put others in their place. But 'the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God' (Jas. 1:20). Anger against people makes us play right into the hand of the devil. The way to overcome the spiritual powers that come against us through people is to turn the other cheek (Mt. 5:39). This makes the demons flee in terror. We cannot win a spiritual battle with carnal weapons. We must realize who the real enemy is and fight with the spiritual weapons the Lord has given us. It is supposed by many that the higher echelons of the devil's spiritual authority take more power to rebuke or remove. That's not true. There is no demonic power, including the devil himself, that will not flee at the name of Jesus when faith is put in that name. What a wonderful name!

If you are filled with the Spirit you will always have the advantage. Don’t be limited to your feelings and emotions. “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” (1 Cor. 2:12)

What Frequency are You?

I once saw a movie based upon the concept of your life being predetermined based upon a ‘frequency’ you were born with. If you were born with a high frequency, you would attract every blessing and it would seem that everything in life worked in your favor. If you were born with a low frequency, life would be hard. Things would never go your way.

As I thought about this, I realized there was some spiritual truth to it. When we are born again, we all have the potential to access the highest frequency available. We have all been blessed with every blessing. We are all seated with Christ, more than conquerors, one spirit with Him, and called to reign in life. We are expected to live on the highest frequency.

But many don’t. Even though they are born again, they still never seem to attract blessings. They live lives of chronic loss and failure, fear and depression. Why?

Our ‘frequency’ is not predetermined by God. It is simply another word for ‘faith.’ Faith is the frequency of God’s blessings. And we know that faith comes from hearing God’s Word (Rom. 10:17). In other words, the frequency of faith is dependent upon hearing God in every area of our lives. As we do, we activate His blessings, favor and grace.

Perhaps you aren’t happy with your frequency. An abundant life of blessings seems far away. It really isn’t. You haven’t been predestined to frustration. You have everything you need in order to have God’s blessings overtake you. It is just a matter of tuning into Him. His voice in your life is the frequency of faith. It is the frequency of healing, provision and victory. Expect to hear Him. Faith is the frequency of God.

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” (Mt. 4:4)

Jesus, The Chief Cornerstone
May 26
Matthew 16:18, 'And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.'

MATTHEW 16:13-19

Some people have mistakenly interpreted this passage to say that Peter was the foundation on which Christ would build His Church. However, that would violate many scriptures that refer to Jesus as the 'chief cornerstone.'

Ephesians 2:20 does mention the apostles as being part of the foundation stones of Christ's church, but it doesn't single Peter out above any of the other apostles, This same scripture once again mentions Jesus as the 'chief cornerstone.'

There are two different Greek words used for 'Peter' and 'rock' respectively in verse 18. The word used for 'Peter' means 'rock' but signifies a piece of rock like a pebble. In contrast, the word translated as 'rock' signifies a massive rock which certainly refers to Jesus, the 'chief cornerstone.' Some have suggested that the foundation rock referred to was confession that Peter made saying that Jesus was 'the Christ, the Son of the living God' (Mt. 16:16). Although it is true that, to enter God's kingdom, we do have to confess that Jesus is Lord (Rom. 10:9-10), in light of the Old Testament prophecies and New Testament references to Jesus being the 'chief cornerstone,' this passage of scripture must be referring directly to Jesus as the 'rock' upon which He will build His church.

One of the greatest differences between the New Testament believer and the Old Testament believer is the fact that New Testament saints are the temple of God. God Himself actually indwells us. God does not dwell in a building made by man's hands. He now lives in the hearts of those who make Jesus their Lord (Rom. 10:9). The cornerstone of our lives in God must be an ever-increasing revelation of His Son. If we had a real understanding of the reality of Christ in us (Col. 1:27), it would drastically change our attitudes, emotions, and actions.

Tap Into the Power Within You
There are a number of keys to seeing the miraculous power of God manifest on a consistent basis. One of the least understood, and therefore seldom practiced, is the fact that healing is under the authority of the believer. God has already provided His healing power and placed it on the inside of every born-again believer. It is up to us to release it. Understanding and using our authority is the key to seeing miracles happen.

Look at how Peter and John ministered healing to the lame man in Acts 3:1–8:
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

Faith Isn’t Passive—It’s Commanding

Notice that Peter didn’t pray for this man. He also didn’t ask God to heal him. He said, “Such as I have give I thee.” This didn’t mean that Peter was the source of this healing. Notice what Peter said in Acts 3:12:
And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

It was God’s power that healed this man, but that power was under Peter’s authority. Peter went on to say in verse 16 that it was faith in the name of Jesus that had wrought this miracle. But Peter didn’t ask God to heal this man. He believed the Lord had already done His part and had placed that power within him. Now it was Peter’s responsibility to release that power, and that’s just what he did.

Jesus Gave Us the Power to Heal

The Lord never told us to pray for the sick in the sense that we ask Him to heal them. He told us to heal the sick. There is a BIG difference between the two. It has to do with operating in the authority He has already given us. Look at these commands the Lord gave His disciples:
Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
Luke 9:1–2

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
Matt. 10:1

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Matt. 10:7–8

Use the Authority You Have

Jesus told us to heal the sick not pray for the sick. What a radical statement! This will get you kicked out of most churches today, but these are the exact words of our Lord Jesus Christ. And this is precisely why more people don’t see the miraculous results they’re praying for. They aren’t taking their authority and commanding God’s power; they’re passively asking God to do what He told them to do.

Take Charge—God Is Waiting on You

I know this goes contrary to popular Christian doctrine. We’re constantly told that it’s not us but God who is the Healer, and I agree with that totally. But, I also believe that God has placed His healing power under our authority, and it is up to us to release it. If we don’t take our authority and become commanders instead of beggars, God’s power will not be released. There needs to be a radical renewing of our thinking on this issue.

A good friend of mine, Dave Duell, once held a meeting in Africa where he saw miracles such as the blind and deaf healed. The people were so excited that they were mobbing him as he walked through the streets, trying to touch him so they could be healed. His first thought was influenced by this religious thinking I’m trying to change. He thought, They shouldn’t be looking to me. I’m not the healer; it is Jesus. He was about to stop them when the Lord spoke to him. The Lord said, “Dave, do you remember when I rode that donkey into Jerusalem, and all the people put their garments and palm branches in the way and cried, ‘Hosanna’? What would you have thought if the donkey had spoken up and said, ‘It’s not me! It’s not me’? That would only have revealed the donkey’s arrogance. No one was praising the donkey; they were praising the One that was riding the donkey.”

Touching Lives by Faith, Not by Effort

When Dave recognized the people weren’t trying to touch him but the One he was carrying, he let them touch him all they wanted and people were healed. This is exactly what happened with the first-century disciples. Peter had people line the streets so that if only his shadow would touch them, they would be healed (Acts. 5:15).
Look at an amazing passage of Scripture in Isaiah 45:11:
Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.
What a powerful scripture! What does the Lord mean when He tells us to command Him? Well, He certainly doesn’t mean we are mightier and more powerful than Him and can order Him around. He means, concerning the things He has already done, He wants us to take our authority and command His power.

Flip the Switch—Activate God’s Power

It’s like electricity. The power company generates the power and delivers it to your house. It’s not your power, but it’s under your control. You don’t call the power company and ask them to turn the lights on. No! They won’t do that. They generate the power, but it’s under your command. You simply flip the switch on the wall and command the power to work. Does this mean you are the power source? Certainly not! You can put a light bulb in your mouth, and it will never come on. You aren’t the power source, but you are the one in control of what that power does. You can plead with the power company all you want, but they won’t flip the switch for you. You have to assume your authority and acknowledge the power is under your command.

Commanding, Not Begging, Releases Miracles

That’s what the Lord was speaking of. He has already healed everyone who will ever be healed. He did it two thousand years ago when He bore our stripes on His back. Then He deposited His resurrection power inside every believer (Eph. 1:19–20). He’s done His part, and now it is up to us to do ours. We need to take the authority He has given us and become commanders instead of beggars. This is a powerful truth that works, and it’s the reason we see so many miraculous healings. We aren’t just praying for the sick; we are healing them in Jesus’ name.

Are you in the Light?

I asked my wife why one of her flowering plants in our bedroom was larger than the same plant in the kitchen. They were both from the same seed packet and both had the same dirt, water and care. Her answer was a “revelation” to me. “More light!” The upstairs plant was getting more light than the one in the kitchen. The other variables were the same, but light was making a difference!

Why do some Christians seem to grow and prosper while others seem to lag behind and never get ahead? More light!

You are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. (1 Thess. 5:5)

We all have the same incorruptible seed of God’s grace, the same Bible, and the same 24 hours in a day. But some are walking in more light than others.

Light is Life. The more we dwell in the light, the more we receive of His life. Consider the following verses:

You shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life. (Phil. 2:15-16)

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Ps. 119:105)

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. (Ps. 119:130)

As I meditated on these verses I imagined a transfer of God’s light and life into our very beings as we hold fast to the Word. Not only does the Word give us light, it makes us light! It is when we let go of the Word and drift back into the world that the darkness returns.

Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. (Luke 11:34)

When His Word is our focus and passion we are full of light and life. The Word is His light. We are born from darkness into Light by the incorruptible seed of the Word. We are to be children of the Word. We are to live by every Word that proceeds from His mouth (Mt. 4:4). That is the Light that the darkness cannot overcome!

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. (Eph. 5:8)
