Shimei [a descendent of king Saul] is upset David was made king in his place. He curses David and tries to stone him. However, Shimei’s life is spared. When Solomon becomes king, he spares Shimei, but places boundaries upon him where he can dwell. We will examine:

· Shimei's great sin – defying God

· David shows Shimei mercy

· Shimei’s boundary is established

· Shimei vows to stay within the boundary

· Shimei breaks his vow

· Shimei is destroyed
