Godly sorrow is not the same as repentance.

We can feel sorry. We can feel remorse. We can recognize that we were wrong. That conviction matters—but Scripture tells us that godly sorrow **produces** repentance.

"For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation..." — 2 Corinthians 7:10

Repentance calls for change.

It means allowing the truth of God's Word to change how we think, how we see sin, how we view God's authority, and ultimately how we live.

Sometimes it's not enough to say, "Lord, I was wrong." We must be willing to let Him change the thinking that led us there.

Jesus' message still rings true:

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." — Matthew 4:17

Godly sorrow can bring us to the place of recognizing what is wrong. Repentance says, "Lord, change the way I see it according to Your Word."

The Kingdom of God is at hand. Don't just feel sorry—allow His truth to change you.

MEET PASTOR PEDRO AMARO!
Pastor Amaro is lead pastor of Vertical Church here in Junction City, KS; the church that is Vertical in Christ; Mobile in Mission.

We are honored and excited to have Pastor Amaro as guest speaker for the Living Word upcoming Family and Friends Day, September 6 at 10am. Pastor Amaro is a great man with a big heart! And we look forward to seeing how God will use him to encourage and empower His people. He loves God, loves His family and church, and loves his community. He believes that to make disciples of Christ, we need to be disciples of Christ, and we do so by living as such wherever God places us.

God is always faithful to accomplish His purposes, but are we prepared to receive what He is doing?

Jesus said that new wine is poured into new wineskins so that both are preserved. (Matthew 9:17) The issue isn't whether God is able to pour out new wine—it's whether our hearts have been prepared to receive it.

The message Jesus proclaimed at the beginning of His ministry was simple and urgent:

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Matthew 4:17)

Repentance is not merely a one-time event. It is a posture of humility before God—a willingness to turn from our own way and align ourselves with His.

May we be quick to hear His voice, quick to obey, and willing to repent, so that we don't miss what the Lord desires to do.
