The Art of Anna K. Halkowich
Warren’s Town Clerk, Anna Halkowich, has held that office since 1979, and many of you have known her well, visiting at her “place of business” or more likely contacting her by phone or email. Our April speaker, Jim Greiner, author of “The Hoyt-Wallis Murder Mystery in Herkimer County,” acknowledged her help in clearing up some of the rumors that he’d come across while researching his book; almost 30 years ago she was named New York State’s “Town Clerk of the Year.” Does anyone remember when Anna spoke to our Historical Society (March 1995) about her study of “Land Patents of Herkimer County?”
You might also know that for more than 20 years Anna has turned her hand to art, developing a talent that must have been there all the time, though she says she never thought about it before she began painting lessons. Apparently she was a very good student, because she even taught painting in the Cherry Valley-Springfield Continuing Education program. If you’re fortunate enough to have some of her work in your home, even those annual Christmas cards she shared with friends, we hope you’ll bring them to our meeting for all to enjoy. We love to document the special talents of area residents for the future.
A business meeting begins at 6pm, followed by refreshments; the evening’s program begins at 7pm.
