This postcard is dated 1942. A picture of the Army Chapel from Camp Crowder, that Bro. Irvin Baxter Sr., purchased in 1948, as Camp Crowder was being shut down. This chapel served as the Joplin church from 1948 until 1967. It remains at 1501 Pearl Ave in Joplin.

This is a collection of pictures taken at the 1967 dedication of the new church. Pastor William J. Garrett was Presbyter over section #6 in the MO. District. Many of the sectional pastors were present including, Rev. Irvin Baxter Sr. Rev. Harry Branding, the MO. District Superintendent of the UPC preached the dedicatory message.

No Sound: This is a video presentation of the new church construction program that took place in 1966. Pastor Garrett used a Bell & Howell home movie camera to capture the history. Bro. Garrett served as the general contractor, and hired a young man named Butch Ketchren to serve as the contractor.

Not knowing just how to pay for the construction of a new church building. My father was introduced to the Bond Program. This is a brochure explaining how the program worked. And work it did. Through this process, my father was able to raise enough money to purchase land at 2601 Connecticut Ave, in Joplin, and pay for the construction of the 10,000 square foot facility.

With the dream of building a new church. Pastor William J. Garrett filed Corporation papers in 1965 in Missouri for the church. Notice that he legally changed the name of the church from United Pentecostal Church to Joplin Apostolic Church.
