“Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,”
‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ ‭

During this scripture Paul is praying a special prayer over the Thessalonian church. That the Lord who has comforted them through ETERNAL comfort. Meaning knowing that they have an eternal home to come to and rest in. That very same God today offers them comfort to their hearts and will establish their work and word if we align ourselves with his will. God offers you and I love and grace and CONTINUAL comfort. Why? Because he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He has not changed. The same God that saved my soul, when I’m feeling weak, when I’m feeling down, when I feel like I have nothing left to give, he will guide me through. He will do the very same for you this morning! Stop trying to question if you’re good enough. Stop trying to question why it’s happening to you. God has you exactly where he wants you. Listen, can I tell you on the authority of the word of God this morning? as long as the vessels are empty, he will continue to pour the oil. But once there are no more empty vessels, he can’t fill them with himself. What’s that mean for you and I? We’ve got to let go of our selfish desires and allow him to fulfill some areas that we haven’t quite let go of yet.

“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬ ‭

The result of our sin as we all know separates us from communion with the Lord. However, even when you were dead in your sin, Christ died for you, he quickened you. He gave you a complete refreshing of his grace washing over you by the blood that he shed on Calvary. No other way is there that you can receive recompense for your sin. The Bible is clear that we were DEAD in trespasses against our father and we were dead in sins. We were born into a sinful world and were full of disobedient and rebellion. However, as a result of our trust and reliance on the grace of God shedding abroad for ALL who call upon his name. We were able to be quickened unto him. This meaning that we were made alive unto him, we were revived, or refreshed with the Spirit of the Lord. Although quickening is such a needed role in our Christian walks, we often times let it stop there. We thrive on quickenings rather than communion. God wants a personal relationship with each one of us and though the “quickening” feeling is so enlightening, he wants us to continually feel the presence to make us WELL AWARE that he is always here.

“Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬ ‭

This was a word of exhortation to Timothy to hold fast to sound doctrine. The context of the word “sound” comes from the Greek word “hugiaino” which refers to health and safety. “Sound doctrine” is God’s revealed truth. However when this verse is encouraging us to embrace the soundness, it is specifically telling us that doctrine is not merely meant to change our knowledge but it is also meant to change our conduct and behavior as well. Most of all, I love how Paul was reminding Timothy in this passage of scripture to reflect back on the faith he’s had and how God has pulled through before for him and THAT will give him the strength to draw some courage from those times to come. Knowing and understanding what God has done for you will help you understand what God WILL DO for you.

“Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭

As we all know, this verse is not a call for outward sorrow. But as everything else related to the will of the Lord is calling for our hearts. The mourning and the weeping should take place in or hearts for the affliction of being a sinful man. Quickly recognizing the deceitfulness of the heart and how quickly we can get cast away by “following our heart” there is nothing less than a clear understanding that humbling ourselves before him is the way to receive of him.

“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬ ‭

How many of us truly prioritize pleasing God? Many of us take time within our days to please someone else and most of the time it results in backsliding. But this entire chapter zeros in on “soldier like” instances. Telling us to endure hardness as a good soldier. This particular verse shows that just like a soldier focuses on pleasing their command, rather than getting entangled in things they shouldn’t be, that we should do the same. Meaning, there are SO MANY things in this world that will ENTANGLE YOU. It is a snare! the reason the Holy Spirit felt the need to give us this part of the scripture is because it is still a difficult thing to live in this world because you WILL be tempted to do things you should. There is spiritual warfare consecutively. Be prepared to fight!

“Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?”
‭‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭5‬ ‭

Can we take a moment today to consider GODS perspective on the poor. Often times they are overlooked.. not just the poor physically but the poor in spirit. They are overlooked. Those that are poor in spirit are quick to admit their need for Jesus. Quick to admit the need for correction. Quick to admit that even years after serving the Lord, they still mess up and need help from the Lord. This verse shows us that GOD CHOOSES the poor of this world to be rich in faith and HEIRS of his kingdom 🙌🏻 this verse specifically calls us to value the unmerited favor of God bestowed on us, resting on those that are full on the spirit of the Lord. Praising his name, worshipping what he’s done on a continual basis. We will ALL one day, if you’re a believer, be gathered around his throne of grace worshiping his name. Why not begin here on earth? He was worthy 2,000 years ago and he’s worthy of it now.

“having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬ ‭

Today we see an example of consequences that take place from breaking a commitment. The commitment being a devotion to God. Paul was particularly focusing on telling the church how to care for the widows. The abandonment they portaged explains that they’re failing to fulfill their promise and they’re bringing consequences on theirselves for their actions. All of our actions in life as well as in Christianity come with consequences. One thing you shall strive to not do is cast of your faith.

“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭34‬ ‭

In this scripture we are shown that Paul confronted the Church of Corinth that they are lacking knowledge of the truth and it was particularly pointed towards the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In other words it reminds us not to be “ignorant” of the devils devices but also not to be “ignorant” of the will of God meaning that we should continually want to learn more about what he done for us on Calvary and what we have access to by faith. We need to hold a special accountability to one another for these last days are drawing near quickly. Quickly awake… now is the high time to wake out of sleep.

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬ ‭

This verse is a sure fact that you and I will mess up. This is a sure fact that we ALL have come short of the glory of God and because of that, is why Jesus was sent into the world. Because you and I, CANNOT DO IT OURSELVES. Nor can we make it into heaven amongst our own power. It took a PERFECT sacrifice to die for you and I. He is the door that leads unto life! But we should continuously strive for holiness at the same time of recognizing that he is our path of peace. What do I mean this morning? I mean that we are called to live a complete life of obedience but at the same time realizing that sin still dominates the hearts of believers. It doesn’t matter who you are, how long you have been in it, nor does it matter what position you hold, until the day of Jesus Christ, you have not yet arrived at the place that you don’t need change. Dont let any person try and tell you they don’t have sin waiving its head at them! By the authority of the word of God it’s time that we recognize the reality of sin amongst us, acknowledge the reality of temptation amongst us. You will forever have it! But it doesn’t have to have dominion over you anymore!

“Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This scripture simply explains to us the difference of the prayer needs. On of which we’re proud, righteous, and boastful, while yet the other is humbled and ashamed. He specifically cries out for mercy in this chapter. Jesus teaches us that the humble and the ashamed one was no longer ashamed because he returned home, JUSTIFIED before God. This simply explains this morning, the need for humility in all that we do.

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ‭

I want to encourage everyone focus primarily on this verse and the meaning that its calling us to. The call to focus on our FUTURE with our Lord and savior and not to focus on our past. Often times it’s difficult to move forward with anything if we still have hurt from our past. It’s easy to get bogged down and it’s also normal to get bogged and weighed down. However, the Lord has never left you and he never will. You have not went too far for the Lord not be able to reach you.

“and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭

I love how this verse relays the ministry of Paul, that he at one time relied on his OWN righteousness which was based on the law. After receiving the knowledge and the revelation of the message of the cross, he now declares to you and I that our righteousness is just as filthy rags. Our righteousness ONLY comes from God, THROUGH FAITH in Jesus Christ.
