During today’s worship service at Synod Assembly, we celebrated the ordination of Kimberly Todd, called to serve at Freiden’s Lutheran in Myerstown…one of our partners in ministry in the Lebanon Conference! We rejoice in God’s call upon her life, and look forward to welcoming her to our corner of the synod!

Kimberly is pictured here with other rostered ministers from our synod (and Edie 😉)

Thanks be to God! And what a gift to worship with 350 or so voices.

This weekend, Kris, Michele, Pastor Caitlin and Edie are gathered with hundreds of other Lutherans from our Lower Susquehanna Synod for our annual assembly. We gather to worship, to learn, to encourage one another, and be inspired by the work of the Holy Spirit in our midst. As a sign of our connectedness, we brought a sample of water from the Swatara Creek which was combined with other samples from all across our synod. We give thanks for the unity we share in Christ and ask for your prayers as we gather this weekend.

The JOY continued as seven youth affirmed their baptisms in the rite of Confirmation. We celebrated the unique ways each of these young people bear the image of God in the world, and prayed that God’s Holy Spirit would be stirred up in their lives as they follow Jesus, share their gifts, and work for justice and peace.

The framed pictures include the dates of their baptism and confirmation, a Bible verse their parents selected for them, and one they chose for themselves, reflecting their hope and prayer for their lives of faith.

[In random trivia, we believe this may be the largest Confirmation class in Zion’s history!]

May God continue to bless and keep these youth as their journey continues, and thanks be to God for the gift they are in our community!

What a joyous weekend we shared at Zion’s! First up: preschool graduation!

Each year, the quilters from Zion’s design and create quilts for each student who is finishing their time at Zion’s Preschool. The quilt is given as a tangible sign of God’s love and care *and* as a reminder that students (and families!) always have a home here. We captured some pictures of students picking out their quilts—with quite a bit of deliberation! And, also, some photos from graduation night.

Many thanks to the quilters for their gifts, and to the families for supporting their child’s early education!

YARN NEEDED!

As part of Youth Service Camp in June, we will be leading crafts at the Salvation Army Day Camp in Lebanon. We are looking for yarn remnants so we can make these "God's eye" crafts with the children. If you have any leftover yarn from other projects, we'd love to take it off your hands! All colors and types welcome. Thank you!

Here’s a snapshot of the creative and inspired projects our Confirmation students completed. From statements of faith to artwork, service projects to exploring “what is faith?”, we give thanks for their gifts, interests, and examples! Be sure to check them out on Sunday, or read all about them in this week's e-blast. We can’t wait to celebrate with them on Sunday as they affirm their faith in the rite of confirmation.

It's going to be such an exciting week at Zion's! We get to celebrate with our pre-K students as they finish preschool and head off to Kindergarten AND with seven teenagers who are affirming their faith in the rite of Confirmation on Sunday. Over the next two days we'll share portions of their Confirmation projects, so you, too, can catch a glimpse of their faith, gratitude, and hope for the future.

That’s a wrap! On Pentecost Sunday, we gave thanks for how Seeds of Hope money was used to spread hope all around the world, and with our neighbors from other countries who now live here. We give thanks to God for the creative and faithful ways you shared HOPE this season!
